Anyone have any idea how to do a complete one, complete as in to the day I got my computer. I already have all valuable stuff backed up, but the one through system tools only lets you go back 3 months. Thanks for the help ahead of time.

you cant use system restore for that

either format to erase everything - REQUIRES THE OS CD

OR

Sometimes they have built in formatting feature usually on PC that have been bought from retailers or they give you a restore disk

only 2 methods i know of

pop in CD

press f8 and enter a few times... delete the current windows partition, make a new partition and format it NTFS
install windows on the newly reformatted partition...

should do the trick.

I got to that point, but what partition do I delete? There is a "-", an "F", and a "C". Do I delete any one certain one or do I just delete all of them?

^

Choose the partition C: and format it (C: is the one that your windows is stored in)

If when you start your computer and you see something at the bottom of the screen that says "System Recovery" you can just just that. It shows up before Windows loads. If you do have it and go to the menu, make sure you use the "Destructive System Recovery" which completely reverts the HDD back to how it was when you first got the computer.

Are you sure that option is available in a winXP install? Are you sure you arent referring to a 3rd party program like norton goback or something?
