I recently went to a San Diego Police Department (SDPD) shooting range today and got a nice educational demonstration in the use of law enforcement-approved firearms. It was pretty neat, seeing professionals use guns like .45 caliber revolvers and 12-gauge shotguns on the range. Heck, I even got the chance to shoot an AR-15, which is the civilian/law enforcement version of the military M16 - minus the automatic firing capabilities. Just before we drove back to school to render the video footage we took for our film, I was handed a paper with a long quote about the SDPD's view on guns. To them, guns were nothing more than instruments that reflected the intent of the person using it. Do you guys believe the same thing? Are guns really all evil or are humans just so evil that guns will never be used properly?

Guns are designed for one purpose. To kill.

Guns are stupid and should never have been invented.

Ever tried to kill someone with a knife? Far more personal and harder than shooting a target from a difference.

Killing is so easy now its not even funny.

There would be far less murders in todays society if guns do not exist.

U cannot stop a bullet, or dodge it, or run away from it.

And u do not need to see the pain in the victems eyes as u snuff out their life.

Wow nasuul that was deep. I agree.

I agree with the police. Guns are things that reflect the intent of the person using it.

I love shooting, I've shot a 12 gauge, 20 gauge, 9mm, a .38 revolver, a 44 magnum, and an AK-47. ----, I even have my own sawed off 20 guage under my bed in case some idiot tries to break in. I am very responsible with guns though. I know what to do with them and what not to do. I think that banning guns has to be one of the most idiotic and ridiculous thing a country can do, because it simply leaves the civilians helpless while the criminals manage to smuggle in their own weapons.

Im all for banning guns. I think what really should be used are non-lethal weapons.

A gun is nothing but an object just like a knife, a rock, or a piece of paper. If you walk up to somebody and bash the sh[IMG]t out of them with a rock, does that mean the rock was evil?

At the same time though, guns were originally designed for killing....simple as that.

So far i agree with everything that has been said...
People kill people, but guns make it easier.
Guns were designed solely for killing.
Guns can be used responsibly, but not by the general population.
The average joe is too stupid, idiotic and impulsive to own a weapon. At least if he has a knife another average joe that has some sense hidden away somewhere has a chance of stopping him before he kills to many people.
Good thing is that average joe's don't usually have the guts to stab someone.

Basically guns are NOT for the general population, they are too stupid.
They ARE evil, because their sole purpose is to kill.
Police and the military are the only people in need of guns, this is because some situations require the force they can provide.

there wouldn't be any GTA games!

on a serious note, i don't think guns are the contributing factor in murders and killings. it's all about the person pulling the trigger. someone told me that canadians have more firearms than in american households. but gun related crimes in the states are higher.

so no. guns are not evil. it's as evil as my neighbour's crappy volvo (hit & run i mean. not toxic gas emissions)

Okay, you guys are ALL right... guns have ABSOLUTELY no purpose AT ALL other than to kill. Guns certainly don't exist for sport, or for protection incase someone who has a gun also tries to kill you... why would ANYONE use a gun for that, other than the antagonist... /sarcasm

You guys are all ignorant. Guns are a tool, and should be treated as such. Banning guns would do absolutely no good for this country (United States), and the crime rate would sky rocket. England, and place without guns, has one of the highest crime rates involving guns in a 1st World Country. And Arizona (I know this went from Country to state, but the rules for guns can't be said about all states) has one of the lowest crime rates involving guns, in the world, and they allow you to carry a gun in plain sight in a holster. Coincidence? I Think not.

what about japan? or singapore?
i know what you mean. guns as a deterrent to would be criminals. but i still think the root of the problem (people) should be solved 1st, rather than allowing more fuel to drip to the flames

indeed
Americans are just addicted to their guns....
There seems to be some compulsion for them to fight for the right to have them...
I have seen probably a total of 100 guns in my life. 90 of those were in the hands police officers. Deterrent maybe?
Normal people don't need guns. Police enforce the law, not the people.
