Alex Rodriguez, if any of you are unfamiliar with him, is by far the highest paid player in baseball, but also one of the best. For the past few seasons, he has been playing under a $252 million dollar contract for the New York Yankees, and he's now chosen to opt out in search of more money. With his former contract, he averaged a $25 million dollar salary per year, and he needs a raise?! Any thoughts on this? Do athlete deserve this kind of money? Is this greed?

Granted they play a ton of games, travel over half the year and bust their ass I do not think that they deserve that kind of money. Asking for a raise when making 25 million bucks a year is just ludicrous. Seriously. Ugh. I am not jealous of the money they make...but god. When is enough enough?

When you can make more money, for what you are the best at, then what you are currently paid... no matter WHAT it is, you'll take it.

I Agree, it's ridiculous athletes get paid so much money for things the love to do.
They'd be better of spening it in developing countries with a good purpose.

Yeah, athlete's today are really spoiled and overpaid. Makes me sick at the amount of money that they actually make.

I think he can search for that, but really only team managers who would want him and have the money would be willing to have him join the team. It's ridiculous that he wants even more money, considering people who have more important decision to make get paid less, i.e. doctors, the president, political leaders, etc.

You also have to take into consideration as to how their lifestyles are. We live off a livable salary, or be paid enough per hour to live. We get what we want when we can afford it, and know how to handle out money situations and how to pay the bills and all that "good stuff." Now look at them, they are paid millions of dollars per year, at which we can believe they probably would end up spending the same amount of % we do each year of it. Not saying its needed or anything of that sort, but it is how their lifestyle is.

God id love to have that much per year.. lol debt free, own your own house. and have enough money left over for family. Lol even the lottery would be nice for like 2 mill even. hah.

------ i bust ma ass 65 hours a week in dual shifts, in conditions hotter than most saunas, and i get maybe 300$ a week. And when i finish my apprenticeship i will be lucky to get over 100 grand a year.

    Overpaid atheletes? Understatement?

Wow, sounds like your getting paid minimum wage. My regular 40 hours get me plenty more than 300...

I'm a Yankees fan, and A-Rod did excellent during this past season, much better than last year, but how could you want more than 25 million? What do you need to buy that costs so much?

    Athletes are so greedy.
