You know, I never thought about it but I do get charged tax. When I order food from PapaJohns.com I get taxed. You might think it's just because it's food, but I recently bought a new pair of K-Swiss shoes they didn't charge tax on the original charge. However, they charged me twice, one for $78.00 [the price of the shoes] and another time for $3.00, which they claimed was for tax.

I work for Papa Johns. :D There is also a two dollar delivery charge. :P

And sometimes you don't get taxed depending on your state. Other times you do. Sometimes they say they tax you and in all actuality they are keeping the money.

If it something within your state, I'd imagine state taxes apply, though I am not an avid online shopper by any means.

I think the rule is that, if they've got a storefront in your state (i.e. Best Buy or something), you pay tax. Not quite sure, though, because I rarely ever have to pay it.

I ordered some stuff from a different state online and got charged tax, I think. I haven't really thought about this though, because I never order stuff online.
