Ever since we started using smudging a lot in signatures i never really got the hang of it and mine always looked like ----e. So, what I'm asking is how do you guys do it? Like what sizes/brushes/strength/brush settings/etc...

Different brushes and different settings, depending on what I want my outcome to look like. I usually use around a 19px hardbrush (like ravr said) and toy with the setting, I usually use this when going for a background that has a cloud look to it. Otherwise any of the chalk brushes and such with various settings. A lot of people won't give out their exact settings.

Well, really, for a good effect I use X brushes, and make a good shape dynamic and seperate them..

I like to max out the jitters, play with the scatter, and choose a "chalky" or "+" brush.
