I haven't heard of even half those bands. Something I'll check out.

Most of those bands are pretty bland.

    ....the Kings of metal, perhaps?

I'd award that title to Maiden imo

Hmm, I've been listening to more black metal recently (as opposed to death). Anyone listen to 1349? Good stuff.

Actually... I put it in italics because that is the name of their albums and a title of one of their songs (naturally). ;)

I 1349 live a year ago, and it was the first black metal I've seen live (considering most bands I listen to don't do live shows), and they were flawless. (http://ryan2006.deviantart.com/art/1349-Ravn-40218375)

I personally prefer black metal over death metal. But its always fun to get pumped up by listening to death metal. =/
(I like the atmosphere and lyrical content).

No they weren't. Their first CD came out when they were 16 years old (averaged) - the drummer (Vitek, who died) was 15. And they're just amazing as hell - you act as if that's a bad thing.

Anyways, RIP Vitek (who was 23 :( )

On another topic: all these black metal lists keep forgetting Burzum - one of the most influential black metal "bands" from Norway...and it was all done by Varg Vikernes (the guy who kill "Euronymous" - guitarist for Mayhem) alone.

They sound just like every other band that plays that type of music.

I can't wait till Varg produces more music after he is released from prison... Its gay they are keeping in there for an extra 2 years (which is illegal, mind you).
