The united states may as well imply the economy in hundreds of countries. Removing US from the planet via nuclear strike would not only cause a global nuclear war, but inevitably, most of the damage would be done by us. By now the US has ways to diffuse bombs, and even send bombs off course to blow them up in a safer location, or sacrifice 1-2 members of our military to intentionally destroy a bomb mid-flight to not harm a majority of the citizens in America. Without a doubt, if the US was brought into a nuclear war, we would win. We alone are the only country in the world whom could single handily put every single piece of land you see under water. We control the economy in multiple nations, we control the government in multiple nations.

Even if in some really odd turn of events, the US was destroyed prior to having time to launch a counter attack, many countries, such as China / Japan / Korea, etc. would no longer be kept in check from finally redeeming themselves after the events in the World Wars, and would surely launch attacks on other economies.

As for the article, I just wish to say I wish they used the death penalty more often. Its cheaper for us tax payers, and its what they deserve. They don't deserve to breathe our air, enjoy women, enjoy nature, enjoy anything in this life, and the only thing worse than death is solitary confinement, with NO human contact other than the hand that comes in and drops a plate in your cell.
