Two Problems I Have With Photoshop.

While doing a school assignment which includes doing things like logos and business cards I have encountered two problems in Photoshop CS2:
Problem 1
When I do up say a logo and I'm finished, I click file > save for web. The problem is, no matter what type of image I save it as both the preview and the saved file both are lower quality and have the colour off compared to my canvas. Heres a screen shot to show you guys what I mean.


Problem 2
I have to make my business cards a certain size so I made my canvas too that size. When my canvas is on the screen it is too small and it is also to small when I save it as say a .jpg. But when I print out the card all my work is the right size but seems to be stretched and doesn't look too good at all. Heres a screen shot of it.


I don't know whats going on with my PS but hopefully one of you will be able to help me out.

 

When you save it for web, it optimizes it for a website. The thing is, by default Imageready will try and make the colours on your image 'web safe'. This is why the colours seem a little off. Read the Wikipedia article on web colours for a bit more info. Also, it's lower quality because it makes it quicker to open on a website.

As for the seconds problem, the only thing I can think of is the pixels per mm being a bit off. Check how many pixels per mm your printer can print, and then see what Imageready is set to.

 

Are you printing directly from photoshop? If not, try that.

Just adjust you Color Management settings and that should fix the problem with the colors. In your screen shot the quality looks about the same to me.

ya havoc but i still think png is best quality an dtheres a quite colour dullness but its cause of saving for web SAVE AS

 

You just got to get the settings right I personally find that .gif's are the best since they have more options with them

Yes. To sum it all up, save for web optimizes to web standards and formats. Save as a PNG or 100% JPEG and you will be fine! You can also try BMP if you like.
