I have Photoshop CS2 and when I drag an image from my browser on to my desktop, I can't open the PNG format in photoshop. I tried changing the extension on it, but then PS says that it doesn't know the file extension. Wtf mate? Can anyone help me on this? I can't use any renders here because of this.

Hmm, maybe when you downloaded photoshop you didn't check for photoshop to read PNGs.I dunno if you can fix that without re-downloading PS.

No go mates. I can open the PNGs now, but there is a black background on the same layer as the render. And I'm not good at rendering.

Ok, DTG. Then how do I fix it so that I can open all kinds of c4ds?

i really don't get what you mean. but if you want a c4d with no black background don't get those effect c4ds. those are the ones with a black bg. just get a normal one.

aynway with the right blending modes, the black bg won't matter much.

Maybe your browser is saving the image as bitmap file? Instead of dragging, try using save as. If that doesn't work, I don't know what to tell you.

As for there being a black backround, that might be because of your computer. My windows 2000 comp could see .png's fine, but my XP always had a background made. Vista works fine though. Did you recently switch computers?

Hmm, I'd say save as as well, and if you get the pngs to work but they have a bg, if it's c4d then c4d renders tend to have it with black bg, just set it to screen or something and it won't show up.

Otherwise not too sure how to help.

if you copy and paste, you'll get a background, if you drag and drop, you'll get it to be transparent if the original image is transparent

Give an example of what you're trying to open. If it's a C4D render then it probably is suppose to have the black background. If it's a "normal" render then try what Th3DarkCloud said.

Basically, when I drag and drop a rendered image from here or anywhere else, it drops it with a black background. If I save as, it won't open the PNG at all, and copy and paste comes up with a black background as well.

I am on a Mac Tower G5 if this helps.
