That ---- was real out of control this week. Didn't go to school today or yesterday because of them (I'm not complaining about that, haha). A bunch of my friends were actually evacuated because the flames were getting close. We had 3 fires here in the Santa Clarita Valley, one up by Castaic, one in Stevenson Ranch, and one in Canyon Country. It was intensely smokey on Sunday, right when the first fire (the Canyon Country fire) started.

Here's a pic of my school almost burning down.

At point the flame was literally 10 feet away from the tennis court's and baseball field. Crazy ---- over here. The fires are pretty much contained at this point, and if not they are burning away from the residential area's.

Yeah have been watching these fires on the news bulletins here in oz and the reports were saying that a quarter of a million people have had to be evacuated. Must be some pretty intense fires given the number of people being moved although you would'nt know it, given that they're only focusing on ritzy area's like Malibu etc. I hope they contain them pretty soon and that lives and property damage are kept to a minimum.

I think our summer, like last year is going to be real intense also. We've already had some fires so early in the spring season and there is some concern that it's going to be one hell of a summer given lack of rain across the continent + above average temps just about everywhere.

I think that the Malibu fire is being reported more than the SCV fire is because people's houses out there are actually burning down, while here there is little to none residential damage.

I live by the beach. It's supposed to be 70 degrees. The air is supposed to be pristine.

    IT'S 100
    it's windy
    the air is horrible.

I blame the idiot politicians who voted against controlled burns. Can't open the window to cool down because the air is so bad and I have a beast of a computer generating heat so my room is hotter than the rest of the house.

Yeah man, I was watchin that ---- on the news last night. Those fires are so random, hella burning ---- up, and then turning and heading a different direction when they're like inches away from all these houses. That's crazy about your school almost burnin too.

    rofl, saaame here.

Yup. I live right near Carbine, and I got the call, and they recommended me getting evacuated. There is a major street that seperated the people who were required to evacuate, and recommended to. The north was required to, and I am litterally 200 feet south of that major street. It was scary ----.

And let me tell you... nothing gets people's hunger for McDonalds up, then a huge fire....

    More like every summer.

But this is the worst I have ever seen. I've been here in Santa Clarita for over 10 years, and I have never seen 3 massive fires burning in the town all at once.

No, but it was damn close. I looked around today at school to check out the damages. The fire only burned close to the baseball field, but a change in the wind could have easily caused the fire to torch the school.

Yup. If you lived near one of the fires, you would probably have to evacuate your own home and there would be smoke everywhere.
