Toshiba Working With Microsoft On New Entertainment Xbox

Microsoft, according to insiders at Toshiba owner of the HD DVD patents, claim that Microsoft is working on a brand new Xbox that will incorporate not only a new HD DVD drive but a large hard drive and new entertainment software that is a spin off from its struggling media centre offering.

Maybe it is an early end to the 360..

Who knows though, we will just have to wait and find out.

They discontinued the first XBOX as soon as the 360 came out, no more games were being developed for it.

Eventually your entertainment center will be one unit........gaming, tv, radio, satellite, etc., all built into one machine. The only extras might be speakers, remote, keyboard and mouse. In a way I hate it when they come out with new systems not long after they released the old ones - my kids go nuts and beg and beg and beg for the new one, and their old one isn't even dusty yet. Not to mention the expense of new games! Argh!

    there are - server actually

USB and firewire would both work if the industry would just standardize.

consoles traditionally have been out once every 5 years. not TOO bad.
and on that note, progress is always good.

that explains it all .. well the production costs for 1 PS3 was high i think it was around $900 mark when the figures came out even though sony were at a lost since they wanted to include as many features as it can to make it a allround entertainment console - since HD is going to play a big part nowadays it is rather bizarre they left out HDMI due to the cost of it .. in the end losing out - dare i say cheapskates lolz

henceforth you shouldnt degrade a console when there was hordes of people saying the 'PS3 was expensive' - Like me i didnt care about the price since it is worth every penny even though i aint got it yet but buying one early-mid next year till more games are released especially the major ones but not only for the major ones i would buy the normal games too ;)

PS2 is still gaining sales and we wont forget that people are still buying PSPs for handheld gaming - I am still buying PS2 games since unlike MS they havent discontinued them

Who cares? Not to sound a dick but I will just be opinionated on this one. PC games will always far surpass console games. Much more can be done with any PC game as far as updates, additions (installing packs instead of buying completely new game disks "Sims" For example), and cheats, etc. It will always be easier to be a PC gamer than anything else until, of course, the game units are all computers. Then what are you? Lol, a computer gamer. . . so don't try and fight it, that's what I say.

Used to there were graphical and processor issues with games. Hell, even data space was a problem. Now days there are gaming PC's and graphics are no longer a problem, and it is much more expandible. So screw the systems now, they should just develope more computer hardware and call them "Playstation Computer Addons" or "XBox 9000 Mods" or some other release that allows you to play their ---- on your computer and helps with processing, etc. Because the computer limitation days on things like that are not "over" per si, but out of the way in terms of being reachable. We can't reach the limits of them, so let's switch to them. Wouldn't you think it would be cool if you could buy a "Playstation" and "XBox" controler and their maybe "PCI-F" card and then switch back and forth and you buy the games and play them on your computer with your HD TV connected to them and ----. ------ all this little bitty console ---- already, you would have thought they would have gotten more into comps. by now.

You boot your computer up . . you see a list:

    Windows
    OSX
    Playstation 4
    XBox 540

    Dual boot? P----...

I hope it's not a new xbox. That will drive 360 owners nuts and make people that don't have a 360 by the the time it releases happy

Hello to you too DarkStar. Yeah, maybe a bit. But not so much like before. It just could be better IMO.
