My birthday is in 1 month & Im getting an Xbox 360 with some accesories.
I was wondering if this is good. It appears like a really really good deal.

    Xbox 360 Core System: 280$
    Xbox 360 120GB Hard Drive: 173$
    Halo 3: 60$

Or people I can do it like this.
Put away Xbox 360 Core System & 120GB Hard Drive.
If I do that I can buy Xbox 360 Elite which comes with 120GB Hard Drive aswell.
It's cheaper but I think its considered better. Right?
By the way the price for it is 440$.

Get the elite. It comes with a lot more (better controller, headset, etc.) and (I think) it also comes packed with Forza 2 + Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

    Get Elite.
Instead of making your own package with stuff, you get all.
And it may also get cheaper.

Get Halo 3 + Xbox Live.

You know the only reason Microsoft markets products in packages is because it ends up being cheaper than being bought alone.

I wouldn't see how using retail parts would invalidate your warranty, though admittedly I'm mostly used to dealing with computers and the like and I could be wrong.

also i know if you're just looking to store media file you canjust do it via USB which is very safe and sane.

    google.

Yea because when they put all the stuff together, if people buy it, it causes them to buy it instead of the less expensive, separate parts giving them more money.

    Correct.

that and if people bought 'generic parts' from the same manufacturers of things, the drives would cost a fraction as much.

now admittedly the xbox console is in and of itself a money looser, it's just licensing fees allow for MS to come close to even. M$ is just trying to establish themselves here, make a good generic system in he future with windows and other features and then monopolize on a console/computer hybrid.

All they need to monopolize computer industries is get the millions of bugs out of windows.
