So I have a science project due in 2 weeks and I am really in need of some help.

    Heres the paper:

So the basic idea is to use things that are in the home to create a cell model, I chose to do a plant cell.

The items used need to have a relation with the cell parts

The 13 things we must put in the plant cell are:

    Necleus
    Nucleolus
    Vacuole
    Plasma Membrane (Cell Membrane)
    Cell Wall
    Cytoskeleton
    Golgi Apparatus
    Ribosomes
    Lysosomes
    Mitochondrion
    Cytoplasm
    Chloroplast
    Endoplasmic Recticulum

Example of what I need to do is,

The MItochondrion is the cells powerhouse so I am using a battery for the Mitochondrion.

    So, Ideas are

Necleus - Some kind of computer chip, Calculator chip, - Brain of Cell
    Nucleolus- Unknown- Creates Ribosomes
Vacuole- Pill?- Keeps cell healthy- stores cells energy
Plasma Membrane (Cell Membrane) -Plastic Bowl- Allows things to enter and leave the cell - 5 Creds to AG for this idea
Cell Wall- Tinfoil?- Protects the cell
Cytoskeleton- Toothpicks- Supports the cell - 10 Creds to TheBrotherhood for this idea =)
Golgi Apparatus- Unknown- Sorts and Packages the protein for the cell
Ribosomes- Unknown- Transforms RNA into protein
    Lysosomes- UNknown- Contains Digestive enzymes
    Mitochondrion- Battery- Cells powerhouse
Cytoplasm- Jello?Jelly?- Clear liquid in the cell the hold everything in place, mostly water.
Chloroplast- Unknown- Converts the suns energy to energy the cell can use
Endoplasmic Recticulum- Toy Car?- Transports things in the cell

Any ideas that you have would be greatly appreciated and you may get rewqrded for them!!

    Thanks!

Not sure how big you are making it but for the Cytoskeleton you could glue some toothpicks together or something. And for the Plasma Membrane some kind of cardboard door on the outside? Just throwing out some ideas.

i did this is 7th grade and basically made half a cell.... with every organelle cut in half to show to inside
for the cell i used a huge clear plastic bowl
and i used a bunch of styrafoam for the parts and painted them. it was pretty snazzy.. a+

and now, im a molecular and cellular biology major lol

wow dont know how i remember that it was like 9 years ago lol

Yes, All great ideas and I will use the toothpick idea, But, for the others that commented, thanks for your ideas but I was needing something that represented what it the part was and that part actually had to have the same function as the household item.

    10 creds to TheBrotherHood
    and 5 creds to AG

I'd love to help but when it came to projects like that, I was the one that would ask if I could turn it in late and give a lame excuse haha

I made mine using jello as the base and just adding stuff to the jello (other food). You can use jimmies for one thing, different colored crumbs for another, etc. You'd prob get more points for making the whole thing edible.
