i have a questoin, i asked some people before and nobody knew the answer, so here goes:

basically, usually when you are downloading a file, it comes up Open, Save, cancel, etc screen and you pick where you want to save the file too and you download it.

but one day a few months ago, my computer just started acting different- whenever i would try to download a zip file, it would automatically download it to the temporary folder and open it, never giving me the oppurtunity to save it. the only way i could save it was by using "save target as" but that doesnt work at all places because they have either right click disabled or some kind of redirecting. and the problem is that when im downloading a large file, i have no idea what the progress is and sometimes it says "folder corrupt" but when i go on another computer and download the same file the normal way, it isnt corrupt.

so does anyone know how to fix this problem?

im gonna take my brothers desktop or buy a new laptop, depending on where i decide to go to school. he has a kickass desktop but he just bought a new laptop for college. i have a 2 year old laptop, so i can either buy a new one or take his desktop, havent decided yet. but either way, i can get rid of this piece of junk.

If you have firefox, then you can set it to open every time with a set program, not sure about IE, so I will assume you mean firefox.

Tools>Options>Downloads, and check there and you can change what it automatically does with each file type.

the reason why it don't give you the option, is prob becuase you told it to 'open' once and clicked remember my decision...

now it depends on what browser your using to what you can do next..

in IE goto Tools > Internet Options > Advanced (tab) > Restore Defaults

in FF goto Tools > Options > Downloads (tab) and its pretty obvious then.

If this is happening on another browser sry can't help but i recomment you use FF, IE usually has the most probs with it.
