I got AVG Free Edition installed as my virus scanner and its detected the trojan horse "Generic8.BUH" several times now. mostly it detects them as being stored in F:\System Volume Information and L:\System Volume Inf. So far it has always deleted it and "healed" it, but it keeps coming up every one or two days. I couldnt find much information on the generic8 trojan. does anyone have any idea how to get fully rid of it?
sadly this wouldnt fix the small problem... C: is my OS, F is used for Games and L for data storage, so it wouldnt have a big effect to format
did you download anything 'bad' or went on something bad on the net? clear your temp - seems like you downloaded some sorta dialer? .. - you can try adaware free to see if that works
XP? first off turn off system restore: Start > My Computer > Properties >System Restore tab > check Turn off System Restore. reboot into safe mode (tap F8 while booting) then run the anti virus scanner of your choice and delete the sucker. reboot normally and check your system is clean. then you can turn sys restore back on. hope that helps
well i wouldnt even switch system restore on - it sucks and doesnt even wwork lol .. i rather clean the HD the hard way than using the restore feature
