I've been keeping my E6420 OC'd @ 2.8Ghz (8x [multiplyer]) for a while, but i havent changed my Vcore settings (they are @ default: Auto). So I was wondering what Vcore settings i should use. Also what should the ratio of FSB and Mem Speed be? Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 @ 2.8 P5N-E SLI Zalman 9700NT 2 1GB DDR2 PC5300 Thanks
just raise the vcore maybe up 3 and increase fsb and keep an eye on ram and test orthos till you find stable settings what's your stock vcore you really got to start oc'ing before you can know exactly what you can/can't do
Wrong, Wrong wrong. Who on earth just sets the vcore up 3 notches? Find your stock vcore, and then increase in notches IF NEEDED!
Just set it on 1.325v ratio should be 1:1 unless you wan't to clock your ram higher to gain more performance.
Please. You dont just set it to x volts. Thats not how its done. You have to increase it in tiny notches starting from your stock, or even below your stock for optimum performance. Yes, you are right a 1:1 ratio is the best. If you end up running your ram below stock, tighten your timings to compensate
1.325v is for most c2ds enough to reach 2.8ghz... and if it's not stable, the he just adds up more volts? I don't see the problem.
Yes, you are right, technically there isnt a problem. But you should always go slowly when it comes to voltages - who knows? It might work at a lower voltage!
well my mobo has 0.025 Vcore Increments so up 3 is not much at all and then I just raise the FSB to what I would like my stable OC and I lower the mem multi so ram isn't an issue and then see if cpu boots then if it does ill run a super pi 32M to see if it's at all stable if it wont boot or do 32M either up vcore or lower fsb or give NB/fsb some voltage then when i get a 32M stable I work on the ram and try and keep it 1:1 and then I'll test memtest 86 for 4-5 hours and when I got both well I orthos for 10-15 hours and when i raise FSB I make sure my board can do that fsb as I got a p35 mobo and it does 550fsb this is my 24/7 stable OC http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=246859 47C load maybe for his board up 3 is a lot
