This is more of a rant about myself than anyone else. I just got home from getting in a car accident. And the part that sucks is that it was all my fault. I was going down this street, only about 30 mph, and somehow I zoned out(I'm guessing that the fact that I was listening to one of my favorite Breaking Benjamin songs didn't help) and somehow I didn't see the stop sign at this intersection and I looked and there was an Explorer stopped on the right, and I saw "Oh, he has a stop sign, so I'm good to go" so I kept going, and then he went. I hit my brakes as hard as I could but it wasn't enough. Basically, he got out of it with just a bent in fender and his left rear brake not working, but my car is pretty much totaled. My Taurus that I've had for ~40 days is pretty much gone. Just because I was being stupid. I've been driving carefully too because I almost hit this guy on a bike the other day. Basically, this really sucks.
Yeah, the problem is I switched over to just liability insurance when I got the car cause the rate rose a lot. So basically my insurance will cover his damage, but I'm pretty much screwed. So I now have to rely on public transportation until I can get enough money to get it fixed or get another one. It's looking like its gonna be 3 or 4 thousand dollars to fix it up. Really sucks.
i dont know how it got totalled. i wasnt even going 30. i had been going 30 but i slammed on the brakes and that should have slowed me down. his brakes got messed up because i kinda hit his tire because i just hit his back end. it totally spun my car around like 180 degrees, the whole front of my car got smashed up and my power steering fluid leaked out all over the place. its not totaled totaled, but i dont have the money to repair all the damages.
It was the cars way of telling you to stop listening to shitty music. It wouldn't have mattered. He had the right away, I would much rather take the lawsuit and stupid damages over being cautious, its only 30 mph, thats like having a dog run into a parked car.
An explosion of air bag in my face. And I'm still pretty pissed off. I don't know how the hell I did that. I can see it happening over and over in my head.
Then you either hit the car just right, or you were going WAY over 30 MPH. I'm sorry, but there is no way in hell you deployed your airbag and screwed up your car that bad. I own a Taurus myself, and the sensors for the airbag deployment are so far up the chassis, it's rediculous. So, how about you tell the real story? Here, I'll start it for you... "So, I just got my license about 40 days ago. Here I am, driving down the highway today, and out of nowhere this great song from Clay Aiken comes on. I couldn't help it... just the sound of his pre-pubescent voice got me going. Before I knew it, my wing wing was out. Within seconds, my eyes were covered in goo, and I couldn't see a damn thing. Needless to say, I rear ended a car parked on the side of the road changing a flat tire. Now, since my dumbass barely knows how to drive, I feel confident enough that I don't need full coverage, and I reduced my coverage to the bare minimum. So, now I'm stuck with no car and having to pay out of pocket to help cover what my insurance won't on the other persons car. But, the good news is, I can still listen to Clay Aiken on my iPod while I ride the bus from now on..."
Actually, it was 43 days. seriously. And most of the car went under the Explorer so I guess that could explain the impact sensors, but I had no clue they were that high. And I actually paid for it out of pocket because it only did a couple hundred dollars damage to his car and i decided to pay that rather than have my insurance premium go way up.
lol if your car was that badly damaged, im sure the cops where called in which case it went on record as you having an accident..... guess what the insurance company just checked..... your rates are gonna go up regardless of who paid what.
Meh, whatever, this is stupid. You guys are just pissing me off more. Partially because of the things you're saying, and a lot because I realize you're right. I'm just gonna close this.
