    I want to get a http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150174

    to replace my old
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...82E16814102329R

Length wise my old graphics card (the Radeon 9800) has about an inch of speace before the hardware for the USB gets near it (it's like half an inch lower then the spot for my graphics card so there's a little room)

I saw in a review for the 7900GS someone said it was 11 inches long.

If I were to place it in my computer it would be on top of the hardware for the USB ports in the front of my computer with only like half an inch.

Should I get the new card if there's that little space between those two pieces of hardware or should I still get it?

    Thanks.

EDIT: Thanks for the help, new question:

I've read a few reviews that have said that although this is a great graphics card the stock fan isn't that great (it can get pretty loud, etc)

What would be a good fan that could keep that card cool, is compatible and is quiet as well? Thanks.

consider that^ do some research see which card comes out on top for the games you play.

and 11inches isn't horrible every card I've had for the last... forever has been that length basically.

fyi it's 10.5inches long i believe. basically pop your case lid off measure and if it fits it fits.

    also reiterate this
I'm tired and lazy and don't want to visualize that. Is it over the chipset which regulates the USB ports? is it over a heatsink? is it over what? if you're talking about the cable which connects the board to the front header, then just route it somewhere

At the front bottom of my computer (on the outside) I have 2 USB slots and a windows media card ready or w/e.

Inside there is a small box about one or two inches in length.

The graphics card (if it is 11 inches) would go from the back of my computer all the way to the front of it (on the inside) and be about half an inch (maybe less)above this hardware for the USB ----.

What I'm asking is if my card is 11 inches (if 10 and a half inches I think it wouldn't go above it at all just a little close) should I still put it in even though it gets close to some USB hardware or is there nothing to worry about.

The reviews on newegg are really inspiring, other then possible overheating (or the card itself just being a bug) it's all positive.

Shouldnt be an issue as the 7 series is much cooler than the 6 series and my cards dont cause any issues, if anything i should be worried, I have 2 6800 Ultras burning away at the inside of my pc im pretty sure they are the "hottest" gfx cards out there lolz

what he said. I had a 130nm based 7800GT which ran hotter than the 90nm 7900GTs/GSes and heat was a non-issue

basically assume you need the card to clear 11.5 inches(a little headroom as you need to plug in a molex cord to it.) and that it's a 3/4ths of an inch thick everywhere if that clears everything you should be fine.

If it fits, go for it. I had my 8800GTX running in a case where it was ~1mm away from hitting the hard-drive cage. It doesn't make any difference at all, as long as it's not touching it... even then it probably wouldn't be a big deal, unless it's touching metal.

I think that would do. http://www.frozencpu.com/products/4305/vid...ml?tl=g40c21s65

You can look around if you want to find that cheaper, kinda in hurry to go somewhere.

Id suggest using AS Cerenamic (sp?) because its non conductive, I wouldnt use AS 5, might short out the gpu. AS 5 is fine for the CPU.

    K sounds good.

Also, some more on the graphics card fitting:

My current graphics card (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102329R) Is 7 inches in length with 3 inches of extra space length wise before getting near the hardware I was talking about.

After looking at it a bit more I don't think this is USB hardware, but has something to do with turning on my computer (in the inside it's close to my power button on the outside of my case) so now things might be a bit different.

I will post a few pictures up in a sec just go give you guys a better idea of what my computer looks like, thanks for all the help so far.

Thinking it could probably be the hard drive cage.

This might sound like a very stupid question but...

would I be able to move my hard drive cage up just like half an inch or so or would that not work. If I could then I could go ahead and buy the card and everything.
