Hi, my father is going to buy me a tv and i was wondering if i could get some feed back on what i should choose. <div align="center">Requirements:</div> <div align="center">-Has to be 60 in or bigger -Has to be Plasma or lcd -Has to be alittle less than $4000 USD</div> I have found some great reviews on cnet.com Any help just post links from cnet or some store, prefer bestbuy.com -thanks and ill give creds to the dude who give me the best tv (even is i dont buy that one)
Plasma's arnt good to me, HDTV I forgot what its called but it has H or a D in it, i'll have a look soon.
i dont think they make 60+ inch LCDs for less than 5k Plasmas yea, but they suck DLP is your best choice.. http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDeta...p;cm_keycode=92
well at least you dont live over here in the uk, apparently plasmas are getting banned by law due to energy costs =/
haha ye 60" is too big for LCD and the price is horrendous i doubt you will get a 60 for 4k dont go for plasma if you are going to chuck it away in like 1-2 years they die rapidly .. get a smaller LCD based TV that is HD .. 60" is hell of a big size and if you are going to game on that beast you will probably go blind since its huge - Go for a hm 52" .. some money saved so you can buy a 7.1 home theater system since you are buying a TV without a package you would need some good system on that personaly i like this samsung one better than the LG one posted above .. supports 1080p / 3 HDMI ports and is approx $1000 cheaper http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LNT5265F-108...V/dp/B000NVEG8S http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Samsung-52-...roductDetail.do Samsung Description on another site: "This is a dual-mode display, so your computer can join the party, too. And the gamer in your household will love the enhanced Game Mode. Samsung consulted with Microsoft engineers to develop a set of picture and sound enhancements that optimize the response and realism of gaming." i couldnt see any other decent displays for the price
Nothing wrong with 60+ tvs actually, i have a DLP 62inch and its butifull in HD, and i got it for 1500 bucks but yea, like i said, unless you want a ugly plasma, go for a smaller LCD
Go for LCD, and go smaller; at 60" you may as well buy a high res projector and wall... Personally, I'm loving the current samsung ranges for quality, though Sony does still have a good foothold. At the size you're looking I wouldn't suggest LG though.
Thanks guy keep em coming. I heard "LG" is not a good brand. Cnet ratings and user rating on cnet give it no more than a 7.8. Samsung would probably be my nezt option. <div align="center"> *New Requirement* My father said it could be 50in (for 10 in less for a better visual teh why not)</div>
Get the Sony 50" SXRD (50A2020) it's affordable and one of the best pictures i've ever seen on a television. I'm speaking from experience I have the 50" model and I run a PS3 and a 360 on it and they both look amazing. I did a lot of research before buying my TV and this was by far the best for the money. It has a small foot-print and feature wise it one of the top of the line - for the money. Here's a link to the 60" inch model (exactly the same as 50" feature wise). http://reviews.cnet.com/projection-tvs/son...82.html?tag=txt Review = 8 out of 10. CNET's TOP TEN HD-TV's. http://reviews.cnet.com/4370-6475_7-168-101.html?tag=dir You'll notice that the Sony SXRD is on the list with a rating of 8.0 and the top HD-TV got a rating of 8.7. -------------- Here's my setup. http://www.gamerenders.com/forum/index.php...t&p=3857280 Enjoy.
Plasmas arent that bad, but in all honesty, you dont need a 60 inch. I was running a 42 inch plasma by samsung, and it was perfect. However, what you absoluately need to make sure, is that its HDTV AND that it has a game mode. Playing video games on plasmas and lcds will ruin them, they are not designed for it. However, they have put a game mode into tvs now, that isnt as rough on the tv. So whatever tv you decide to get, make sure it has a game mode on it. As for brand I would suggest Samsung. I spent alot of time researching all the brands, and comparing them all side by side in the store for weeks and Samsung ended up having the best quality in both Plasma and LCD. And for the fools saying plasma is ugly, your wrong, its damn nice, and the life expectancy of a plasma is quite long, 5 years if you leave it on 24/7.
