Well yeah, i've just installed Steam/ Counterstrike on my computer today when I try to find online servers, someone strange happends, loads for a while (2sec's ish) then it say's "Cannot connect to master game server please contact something something? Anyone know how to fix this?
I'm not sure which version of CounterStrike you're running but some need the liks of punkbuster installed or else won't connect and others (in particular CS:S ) need a large amount of updates loaded before you can find any servers. Other than that, make sure your firewalls aren't blocking Steam or the game (mine comes up as hl2 as the name of the program that wants internet access, not counterstrike or steam if it helps) from accessing the net, and also make sure your internet is working (though I presume it is lol). Other than that all I can suggest is getting the account checked out to make sure it hasn't been VAC banned, not sure what error message is displayed when that happens, or just try reinstalling the whole thing.
steam doesn't use punk buster if you were banned it would say so when trying to connect to the server, and the server list would show an image to the left that looks like a red circle with a line through the center this may help: http://support.steampowered.com/cgi-bin/st...php?p_faqid=234 or try this: 1. Quit Steam 2. Delete clientregistry.blob (located in C:\Program Files\Steam) 3. Log in 4. Try joining a server
Yeah I tried reinstalling, btw i'm Konvict. I doesn't work all the time, I let it go through my fire wall but it still doesn't work? :S
