The US media does a very poor job discussing or even covering this sort of thing. And when they do stories on Latin America they're often colored by commentary from US government and business "experts", i.e. pundits; and they barely ever mention the human cost.

This video affects you in a much different way than reading about the incidents since you see the faces of the living victims and hear their stories from their mouths. So its pretty valuable in that way. If I had any complaints it would be the scope of the video. Assuming they had the funding, they should've made a series of it. Dedicate 30 minutes or an hour to each instance of US intervention into the political and economic workings of Latin American countries. Really build up the evidence and give the viewers a much more detailed look at the environment and causes and effects.

Unfortunately, I don't see these policies changing too much until the US people learn about it, believe it, and find the options available for correcting it. Because of the rhetoric US policy makers use about spreading democracy, etc, it should be relatively easy for US citizens to argue for the modification of their policies (or at least give them reason to hide the policies more fully).

Its good to see the victims organizing and securing their democracy in the face of such incredibly bad odds, but its very sad that its necessary for them to struggle so.

sometimes media outlets don't want to ruin their reputations by covering inherently biased articles.

I do enjoy when articles and videos like the above use phrases such as 'allegedly,' 'purportedly,' and 'reportedly.' Why can't they just say 'they were?' Oh, wait, let me guess: classified, super-secret gub'mit files that were erased and nobody will ever see?

How can you be sure 100% anything takes place? Just because your history books say one thing, there are books elsewhere that say otherwise. Alleged means to claim. Saying anything is 100% factual is idiotic since there are so many different and complex factors that go into the assumptions that make it "clear as fact" but still, not entirely truthful. If you want the words "were" and "was" then you might want to look towards the Bush Administration. "There are biological laboratories in Iraq which the UN prohibits" Which obviously is false.

You mean like the 'alleged' FEMA concentration camps, with footage of old rail yards as evidence? Or the 'alleged' government-orchestrated attacks on 9/11, with the grainy video footage of steam coming out of pipes as the Towers fell? Anybody can come out and say that they were part of some (alleged, super-secret) government program to train Contras in El Salvador. Hell, the internet and the recent swarm of documentary-happy college students only makes it easier. Look up a guy named Jesse MacBeth.

    Photographs.
    Multiple eyewitnesses.
    Personnel records.
    Assignment records.
    Tail numbers for aircraft.
The list goes on and on.

By the way, any crackpot dictator in a third world country can make mustard gas if he can make fertilizer. The facilities are just about the same, and it's relatively simple stuff.

Why does everything about you have to be a flame? Jesus christ get the ------ out if your going to only troll. You took the topic of this forum and turned it into how much you "allegedly" hate documentaries. Stfu for the "alleged" god's sake.

EDIT: Also, just because he has the capabilites to make mustard gas, does that mean that he does? I have all of the ingredients in my kitchen to make a bomb, and I'm able to put the bomb outside the white house all within 2 hours. But have I done it? No. That's just idiotic.

'Pot, this is kettle. Color check, over.' Grow thicker skin, or get your ass out. Not everybody agrees with you. Try here if that's what you're looking for.

He had the capabilities. He used them, both on the Iranians and the Kurds. That's when he should have been out, not twenty years after the fact. The man was a terrorist, nothing more. He bombed innocents, tortured thousands, and executed countless more -- out of sheer paranoia. The world saw this go on, yet nothing was done other than throwing a few thousand sheets' worth of sanctions at him -- all of which did nothing except to give nations like France cheap oil.
