in gaming and general use and photoshop no if you're doing server type apps and running massive 3d rendering aplications then yes. I won 2GB so i have 4GB total. Did absolutely nothing for me. At stok, the e6750 only runs at 2.66 Ghz. 3.3+ is very possible and save yourself a bit on RAM http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820146565 uses the same type of ICs(integrated circuits) as the G. Skill RAM, but is half the price. RAm is basically microchips made by other companies assembled onto a circuit board by 3rd party companies so contrary to popular beleif and marketting OMG the diference between RAM isn't so huge. For the record, the best type of DDR2 ICs would be Micron D9. Micron being a IC manufacturer. Crucial is a subdivision of Micron. Don't get me wrogn though, there was a point when the G.Skills were $90 and the crucials were 120 and I was recomending the G.Skill but cash is cash.

understandable. from my perspective it's just two companies who work to leach out money, i've been with AMD by and by since 1997ish or so until late 2006, back then they were a bit more competitive. If you do any overclocking whatsoever though, the c2ds really pull ahead. I realized around a 50% performance boost from selling my AMD opteron 165(@2.6Ghz) to my c2d @3.2Ghz and it runs cooler and uses less energy. YMMV, I'm one of those crazy types and I try and squeeze most of the performance from the chips through moderate overclocking. basically the onyl way I'd recommend going the AMD route is if you planned on buying a new CPU in Q1 08 because IMO their current crop just can't compete. they're selling factory overclocked chips, their whole complaint/markettign gimmick against intel was that their chips were energy inefficient, currently the athlon x2 6000+ draws in the neighborhood of 130W under load. the moderately slower and lower volted 5200+ draws in typical circumstances 65W. That basically shows that unless their manufacturing technology improves the K8 arch is at the end of it's lifespan. you won't see an athlon x2 officially launched @ 3.2Ghz ever. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2007/02/2...on_64_x2_6000/1 excluding results where all the main CPUs are within 2% of each other(margin of error) you see that the 6000+ is between the e6600 and e6700. Take the results as you may, if you're gaming chances are you won't notice much of a difference. if you're doing audio encoding 3d rendering or graphics design you might. if you're doing disc intensive things, the IDE controller on AMD platforms is a bit superior. Do whatever you think is best. For me taking a c2d and running it at around 3.0-3.6Ghz makes sense. If i was buying an AMD chip I'd buy a 5200 and push it to 3Ghz on a cheap $80 board. higher and boards are for overclockers(to a degree, on the AMD side overclocking is easy and hardly board limited), not the average user. if you're noise intolerant consider this heatsink http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835103026 it's cheap and even without fans should cool better than stock. Two cheap fans if you want(I can choose should you desire) can help even more.
