before i start talking about it, you have to know that i usually don't rave about games. i'm surprised there hasn't been a thread on this. or at least one i've seen. i've been wanting this game for a long time and i got it as a christmas present. man, the stunning graphics. i mean, literally this game is beautiful. i can be satisfied with just looking at it. if u haven't played it yet, you are definitely missing out. if the graphics aren't enough, just check out the gameplay. i love the whole fighting with a paint brush thing going on. it's shweet. if only this was a wii game, if only. it's also heavily based on japanese culture and mythology. yep, my kind of game. heck, i'd say that it's my favorite game. ε:
Too bad everyone ignored this thread. I am with this guy on every point. It is easily my favorite game as well. This game draws you in and really makes you care about the characters. If only there was actual voice acting, then this game would be perfect.
I've never played it but it reminds me of Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. It has some elements that seem the same. If this is the case the game obviously is good and it is. I wish I had a ps2 to play it on =\
lol. topic started December 26th 2006. why would you bump this? whatever. to those who havent played it yet, you're missing a lot. the story is basically you're a white wolf who's a reincarnation of a diety brought back to life to defeat the monster that you've defeated in the past life.... it's better explained in the game. it's so fun that this is the only game i had the motivation to complete it 100%. other games i just finish the main story and a few side quests. very very original. how many games out there uses paint brushes to attack. beautiful graphics. no, not just graphics, ART! humorous dialog and a good storyline
Okami's basic idea is that you are Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun, who appears as a wolf. 100 years prior to the start of the game, you had apparently fought the 8 headed serpent Orochi. You won, but at the cost of your life. The villagers made a statue of you to honor your memory. As the game begins, someone accidentally unseals Orochi and the land of Nippon is trashed and cursed by Orochi's immense power. The statue of yourself is infused with power and Amaterasu is reborn. From there you are charged with bringing light and life back to the land. There is, of course, far more to it, and anybody who wants to add on can certainly do so. I'm a somewhat slow typer, so before my enthusiasm waned, I decided to get the bare bones out there. My main point is that if you don't play this game, you can't say you have had a fulfilled life as a gamer.
