Think before you buy. You can go out and buy some flashy $50,000 dream car, but will you take care of it? Do you know what 'preventive maintenance' is? Do you know how to do it? Do you plan on doing it yourself, or are you going to send it to whatever garage you frequent and get a problem report based on them making money, not what you need (they do NOT keep your car in the shape it needs to be in)? What if something breaks; are parts easily available? How is the car's gas mileage? What are you using it for; are you using it to drive your newly-licensed sixteen year old self to school and back to show it off or are you driving to and from work with it? How high is the theft rate in your area; if you spend $30,000 on some brand-new Mustang, are you prepared to lose it? Are you a competent driver; are you prepared to get into an accident? Will you likely be the cause of that accident; do you smoke pot or drink, and are you likely to drive while under the influence of either? Do you drive around with others in the vehicle, and if so, what type of person is it; are you riding around with your girlfriend or are you giving a ride to your four drunk buddies? Even though you've got a decent sum of money now, can you afford a steady $60.00/tank every time you fill up? Do you have a decent-paying job aside from this inheritance (assumed)? Is that job steady? Is it worth the gas money to get there?

Honda Civics are nice. Easy on gas, plenty of parts, and they're easy to take care of. Relatively cheap, and I think their newer ones look nice, especially in a black, red, or dark blue.

Think before you buy. If it's inheritance, I have my doubts that your dad meant for you to blow it on a one-time car that you're likely to wreck within two years of getting it. I would seriously consider investing it; a couple grand in interest every year isn't a bad thing, if you do it right.

Mazda Protege's and 3 series's are nice, if you actually want to save some money.

Your a pretty interesting fellow. Do you have a car now, or you just want to upgrade?

In my honest opinion I say you should ignorantly go buy a very expensive car. If thats what you think your father wants you to do, then go ahead. No one on this forum can stop you.

How do I say this. I half own a 2005 Honda Black CRV. I Payed for half but its my moms. At first it was just going to be her birthday present but she pretty much refused to take it all together. I didnt say that I want an expensive car however I do want to upgrade whatever car I get. I was hoping to get some ideas. Nothing else.

Just get a Civic, sell the CRV if your mom won't take it, and get a brand new black Civic and spend some money putting some upgrades into the engine and addins little ups and extras and the car will last you forever with great gas mileage and it looks awesome (imo).

It doesn't depend on how long you have been driving, it depends on how much you drive a car. I got my driver's licence around 3.5 years ago, but very rarely drive a car, so i can say for sure that a sports car like porshe is no match for me. I'd say stick with a regular car for the next couple of years, untill you are older, because there are other things that come with an expensive car, like ensurance, gasoline, tax etc etc. The car itself is maybe only 20% of the total expences.

Well if you live in Chicago, you'll be in the car for long periods of time... So go with Luxury. I'd suggest the Lexus IS ($35,000 for a new model.)

Or, an inexpensive car: Chevy Cavalier. ($5,000 - $10,000 for a newer model.)
