I recently bought all new parts to build a new pc, but i have a problem. First is this PSU http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16817341010 compatible with this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813188014 The reason i ask is, the numbers for the main power connector and the numbers on the psu don't match and i can only put it in one way i think. Any help is appreciated.
yep it is i got a 24 pin slot motherboard but a 20pin PSU - doesnt make a difference - I forgot what the last 4 pins do but if you dont want 20pin and you want 24pin you can easily buy a 20 to 24 pin adapter I got one spare which i still havent used since the PC is working perfect without one
Does it matter if the numbers on the connector on the motherboard and the numbers on the power supply connector don't match up?
the 20+4pin in my experience is that there is a 4pin extra wire that comes out of the PSU to slot into a 4pin slot on the motherboard ... as i got a 4pin wire go into a slot on my motherboard that doesnt mean that you can put the 20 and 4 together .. well someone else could correct me on that .. but im just saying that from what ive connected when i built my PC that separate 4pin slot powered up something i cant remember what now well most motherboards can power up with 20 .. im not sure about anything else since i havent experienced any other numbers besides 20 and 24
Yea 20+4 means theres a extra 4 pin cable that you can connect to the mobo if it doesnt boot with 20 pin when it has 24 pin... which it should
