it wouldn't be the same, the site grows creds much faster than I of course.

    so of course 34000 * 5 is less than 100000*5 .

Have you read the topic? Credits are selling for about $2-$3 per 1k. If the staff decides to cut the credits by 2/3's, it should bump up the prices to the normal, if not more.

    in theory...

    34k * 5 is still less than 100k*2 or 3.

still i'd go with the charges. there are other solutions than rather clearing a bunch of creds, GR mine as well start all over.

you don't understand how money works.

see it doesn't matter how much money you have. all that matters is how much you can get.

Post WW germany had no shortage of money, you had to take a wheel barrow to buy a loaf of bread. I'm willing to bet that the denizens of such a time wouldn't have minded "loosing" 2/3rds of their cash if it's value trippled

Do you think taking 2/3 makes sense? Because it doesn't to me, do you know how many people buy credits. Muss for example has spent like $80+ on credits, he doesn't plan to spend the credits, as well. He was 37,606 credits lets take away 66% percent from that. Thats 24k-25k. So he lose 12-13k in credits. I mean some people can earn credits back by selling stuff,, but what of those who buy credits, should they work some more money in real life and buy however much they lost?

So basically if this is done, you have just screwed over the people that gave you money in the first place. Basically like this "Thanks for buying credits, at a rate WE chose to sell, NOT YOU, now we will take away 66% of it, since WE screwed up and d------ued the credits. You can feel the knife in the back.

Posting for credit isnt gonna solve anything, the people with credits need to realize they have the power on this forum. I mean now we can only do stuff for credits here, so money cant be used. So they have to buy credits from you, but people just want money, like selling 5k in credits for like $11-$12 dollars. I mean seriously do you need money that much? What the heck are you gonna buy for $11, have a fun time at the candy store, or buy yourself a large piece for you and your friends on Friday. Just wait it out, let all the people who want the money no matter the cost sell their credits for whatever they want.

And @ the tax thing, lol it is just like real life the "rich" members will do anything to avoid the tax, while the "poor" members don't care because they have nothing to lose or it doesn't even effect them that much. -edit, except dem, but mods and admins dont count, since they get paid

Sniper001, I don't even know why your talking about a solution, you are the one that even started this by getting 2.8-3k for $5. Since then everything just got out of order.

    Merged Post:

I agree with charge to make a topic in Marketplace cuz thats what they do at sitepoint, but to post? I would like to see how that will turn out

I can see it now lol someone has like 200 credits, and says first 18 people get 10 credits for free(first 18 people, because he got charge 20 credits to make the topic) then the people that post get charge like 5-10 credits

Starting over more than half the active members would leave, and I am relatively sure yourself would as well, with such a huge loss. Those with few credits could care less. By doing how I did it, everyone retains the same overall worth of credtis, but just at 1/3 the quantity.

Actually, you would be surprised that if anything, I pumped more $US into GR. If I didn't bid, those credit sellers wouldn't have sold ANY of their credits, at least I bought them. It's also quite unfair to state that I am the root reason for the inflation of credits, because that is completely nonfactual and rather offensive. (Especially since the reason why credits have sold for so cheap has already been mentioned in this topic countless times; but I suppose to haven't read the entire topic to know, so I will state it below.)
The reason for inflation is because of the credit sellers selling their credits for so cheap, it's because of them that the buyer has more power to purchase credits at a cheaper price. You can't blame the buyer for wanting to get it at the cheapest rate possible! Moreover, a large amount of credits have accumulated in the system the past couple of months, which may also be a reason why inflation has occurred to such a large extent. More credits = More people that want to sell their credits. When a large amount of people want to "cash out" their credits, there is only so many buyers that want to purchase their credits. What happens next? All the members on GR that want to sell their credits "compete" against each other to sell their credits at the cheapest price.
In addition, you don't know my past history on Gamerenders. Last summer I accumulated over 100,000 credits over a couple of months, so don't talk to me about why I am talking about a solution. I too am a credit seller, and I do own a large portion of credits on GR. I want to bring forward my ideas into this topic, as I feel that as a member on GR, I should bring forward my views on the topic to discuss a solution to the problem we are having; at least I am trying to help.

@ Dem - There was some negative aspects of the "2/3" idea that was brought up a couple of months ago, I will try to find some posts and quote them in this topic. I have found these posts though, which I feel raises many issues to the ideas brought forward in this thread, including some of yours.

^^ I agree with this point. There are also many shops that give out free items, it would be a horrible idea to penalize people who are providing a free service to the members of Gamerenders. So what do we do? We don't charge fees to CREATE a topic in the marketplace, however, once a transaction does take place with credits, a "tax" would be implemented. (Either a percentage of the amount of credits or a set amount.) I feel a set amount would be much better, a small fee of 10 credits sounds good.

^^ I pulled out some main points from the large post made by Logicaly. I believe everyone will agree with this quote, and it further emphasizes the point stated in the quote above that charging to create a topic in the marketplace is NOT an option.

That is NOT true. The prices are going up. Tags go for 1-1.5k again. 3-4 months ago top of the line tags went 700-900. In reading your posts I honestly think you are clueless.

I support that idea 100%. Let's do it.

Sniper, you shouldn't really be talking. All you use this forum for is to make money. Its supposed to be for graphics and I have NEVER seen you make one. You are the last one that needs to be talking.

I like how you think you won.

    Optimism works for you. :)

As dementia said, reducing the credits in the system is a smart move. If credits are cut by 1/2 or even 1/3, from all accounts, then it will only aid in raising the real life $ value of GR Credits. However, at the same time, since there will be less credits in the system force people to lower the prices in auctions, services, shops, etc.

    As for posting for credits:

Although it does not seem all to necessary to keeping the forum alive, it would enrage alot of people who are not really all that great at graphics, and unfortunately do not have the money to buy credits.

Removing posting from credits is easy for you to say, you get credits wayyy easier from selling graphics you make in an hour or so than you do by posting in an hour or so, so it wouldn't affect you very much.

There are alternatives, such as the tax idea.
