Who cares how much skill is involved? Someone could train in the art of music for 20 years, and their stuff could sound like crap.

If it sounds good, and you like to listen to it, than listen to it.

They'll never understand what rap/hip hop is really about.. It's always gonna be a generalization because of the dickheads out there doing it just for money(like mims). :(

I hate how people make a single hit and they become famous for one song and their whole track is ----

What is rapping actually? It's saying words in a rythm, big deal? no. you don't need ---- for becoming a rapper, you don't need to learn to play a instrument, cause you'll use a stupid beat from google.com, you don't need to learn to sing, just talk for the microphone in a certain rytm.

Now, what does it actually takes, creating a metal band?

    1. You need a band, mostly everyone learns a certain instrument, guitars, bass, drums, maybe even keyboard
    Rappers don't need/have a band, just a beat

    2. You need to practice singing, Most metal band' lead singers can do 2 kinds.
Normal (Most lead singers can also [mostly a high-normal tone] sing well, without any screaming.)
Low/High (which you morons can screaming)
Rappers don't, all they need to do is say a few words on a certain rythm.

    3. Being able to do concerts, Metal bands give very often concerts.
Rappers don't, most of the rappers only do it for the commercial part.

    etc..

Rapping relies on a whole set of other things. The thing is, rap relies solely on the lyrics and smoothness you say it in. It, at its pinnacle, is simply like saying poetry.

It should be, at least. The Roots, Common, Jedi Mind Tricks, for weirdness and surrealness: De La Soul, MF Doom. These rappers and rap groups take rapping to, or at least close to, its pinnacle almost as much as they did in the 1980s and 1990s. These are developed rappers, and The Roots learn and play ALL their instruments LEGITIMATELY. The only thing they really sampled was a Radiohead song.

At the point of time right now, though, the most popular rap has turned into the same thing screaming is: pointlessness. There are still good rappers out there, but they are overshadowed mostly by the crap spurred by, what I call, "party rap". Otherwise known as ----.

I do wish though that people would stop being so ignorant towards it, not every rapper is going to say the same things if you look right.

My 2 cents on the subject.

Paramore and Linkin Park still suck.

    So does Three Days Grace.

    And 50 Cent.

And a bunch of rappers and rock bands.

you can't argue what music is better than the other. it's a matter of opinions. everything you hear is music. EVERYTHING. it depends on what you like. there are 6 billion + people in the world, there are tons of different opinions and tastes.

also, saying rap is ignoring makes you look like a retard. music isn't school. some prefer their songs to have meanings, some not.

i like Tool, a band that has deep meanings. i also like souja boy, a guy who dances around singing about shoes and such.

I like music of where that screaming comes in for, it's flows energy in some way. Anyway, I don't listen only to metal, I actually listen allot to classic rock and such like Rolling stones, The Eagles, The Who and CCR

Paramore and linkin park suck indeed

Three days grace can suck my balls aswell

And 50 Cent needs to be shot again
