well, not exactly. but it gets really REALLY hot when I play Overlord on it. and after about 10 minutes of playing, the screen goes blank! WTF! audio runs normally untill the status light blinks as if the laptop's on sleep mode. then i have to unplug and take out the battery to reset it. I've tried placing it on a cooler (three fans), set video settings for the game to low, but it still happens. HELP!

    btw, the specs:

    Acer Aspire 4920
    -Intel Core 2 Duo T3700 (2.0 GHz)
    -160 GB SATA HDD
    -2 GB DDR2 RAM
-ATI Mobility Radeon X2500 (tried to DL latest driver but couldn't find it)

Did you check your cooling fan? Like the one for CPU or Power Supply. If not then I don't know.

Download Stress Prime 2004 and let it run for a few hours, try to see if it does the same. If not, then it has something to do with that game. Call Acer for support.

Just try cooling it as much as you possibly can, and do what .DevastatioN. said too.

run stress prime(err orthos) + ATItool

SP2004 only stresses one core so I'd go for orthos since it puts doubel the load on the CPU. run on blend.

the idea is you're stressing the entire system to see if it actually is an overheating issue since orthos+atitool's artifact scanner will put mroe load on your system than actual gaming

orthos on blend does a good job of stressing everything except gfx and atitool's artifact scanner does good on the GFX

if it can run through an hour of both, then it's probably not an overheat/hardware stability issue but a software issue. if it crashes with both remove one see if it still crashes, then try the other. hell if your card being unstable then there you go... if it's anything else... then... helps with the warranty process I guess, if you can tell them what's wrong/ know for sure if something is
