Ok so i have this monitor Samsung 226BW and i recently bought this HDMI-DVI Cable. I want to connect my ps3 to the monitor. My Monitor is HDCP ready so i thought it should work. When i connected the ps3 to the monitor and turned my ps3 on, the only thing i see on the screen is: "Optimal Resolution not used" 1680x1050 [?]

Now im wondering why it isnt working and if neone can help me plz!

Your PS3 might be outputting at too high a resolution (1080i/p) for your monitor to recognise. You need to turn the resolution down to 720i/p. If you have a TV with HDMI connect the PS3 to it, then turn the resolution down, and then connect it to your monitor.

I suggest two things try to see if you can change the settings on the monitor

and also check to see if that monitor is evencompatiable with the ps3.

yeah that sounds dumb but as easy and simple as it seems I tried connecting my mac book to my projector using the DVi VGA cable adabptor and as easy as that was it was not showing nothing except for the projectors welcome sacreen.

I would assume it would project since id did with anything else and someone finally just said to check whats compatiable with it and it just happen tobe that the certain brand I had was not.

sot hat might be something to look at.

Hold the power button down on the PS3 and it will reset to factory defaults. Then while the power is off connect the PS3 to your monitor and then turn on the PS3. The system is intelligent and will recognize that there is an HDMI cable connected and automatically set the resolution for your monitor.

That's how I set mine up when I move it from my 32" Wega to my 50" SXRD and works perfectly.

    Good luck.
