Shots Taken with my 18-55 Lens in reverse. Not the easiest way to get things in focus, still cheaper than buying a macro lense

Some very nice shots there mate. I been lookin into gettin a 50mm prime macro but for a good one they cost WAY too much, might have to try a reversing ring now i've seen what can be done with them.
Is it really hard to work with it reversed? I know everything is manual when reversed but then again thats how it should be when doin macro anyways!

Ive never used a macro lens so I cant really tell you how they compare.
The hardest thing about shooting in reverse is that the depth of field is very very shallow and so it can be very hard to get the subject into focus.
Another problem is lighting because often your leaning over the subject, all the photos above have the flash as lighting.
Personally i dont even have reversing ring so its probably even harder for me because i only have one hand free to do anything as the other hand is always holding the lens.
It took quite a lot of practice to get the results i wanted but nowadays its pretty easy, Reversing is certainly worth a shot, I mean after all its free.

I thought you needed to buy an adapter ring to fit a reversed lens?

yeah if you want to fit it in, i just hold the lens in front of the camera, i think it works just fine. Cheaper too

I love macro shots, especially when you capture the texture of objects
