This might sound foolish, but I want to start up 'graphics' or sigs.. so I can develop some skill with photoshop (if that is what everyone is using)..

So which would you say is best out of all versions? I'm quite active on a computer and from experience new vers arent always the better ones.

mostly all of the later versions are very similar, cs2 would be my reccomendation though
so you should be fine with any of them.

and good luck getting starting with graphics

First you should get Photoshop CS2, after that you need to read some tutorials and get familiar with the tools by just messing around with them.

Here are good places for tutorials:

    www.deviantartc.com
    www.pixel2life.com
    www.goodtutorials.com

And ofcourse the Gamerenders graphics tutorial section.

CS3..............it can do EVERYTHING CS2 could do plus more so why go back to CS2?

btw...CS3 loads much faster than CS2

although cs3 is a lot bigger than cs2. so if you dont have a great computer with a fairly small harddrive, i suggest doing cs2 because if you dont have a lot of RAM then CS3 will be really slow.
