hey I just reformatted my desktop, but now I don't know which and how to, reinstall my drivers, can anyone help me?

Basically what I just did is, insert the windows CD, boot from the CD instead of hardrive, erase the old windows, and reinstallwindows,

for some reason it didn't ask me for computer code or anything.
but now i dont know how to get internet back onto that computer or anything

    can you help me please?

    thanks

I'm going to go ahead and assume you're using Windows XP. This being said, you should have internet explorer installed, you need to find the CD that came with your modem, and router if you are using one, and install it. Connect up to the internet and download the newest version of Direct X. Go to start, CMD, and type DXDiag. Look at your system's specifications and google and download drivers for all parts necessary. Also, keep in mind that if you purchased your computer, meaning it isn't a clone, most companies are willing to help you set up your drivers and might even ship them to you.

Windows XP was the first Windows to make conectivity easy so it should automaticly install all the esential drivers if not get the make of you lan card etc and download put them on to a mem stick or a disk or anything, also you may have a disk that came with the pc full of software u need, or a cd for the mother board wuth all the software on it

okay so, i found the cd from my router and i installed the ethernet controller driver, which gave me my wireless internet back, but i also use a cable to connect to my router for better connectivity, so how would i get the computer to recognize that?

i've been going to the windows update website like 4-5 times and just dling the various updates it tells me i need
    anything else i should do?
is there something i need for the video card or somthing?

It would be advisable, but if you don't play games and you aren't experiencing any FPS lag, then it shouldn't really matter.

If you upgrade to SP2, it should come with the essentials.

if your sound and ethernet ports doesnt work it prob means you need to install drivers for your motherboard, thats the same thing that happened to me if i reformatted.

ok i formatted my PC yesterday twice and once now since my sound didnt work due to the plug and play enumerator not working crappy thing finally got it to work :) This happened when i installed SP2 on the machine and straight after my sound didnt work at all

I went into device manager > PLug and Play software device enumerator had a yellow ! on it .. tried to fix it but couldnt

I had to resort to formatting the PC again... download SP2 from a site (NOT USING THE WINDOWS UPDATE FEATURE) and worked like a charm afterwards :)

So therefore ... go to control panel > system > hardware > device manager and see what devices have a yellow exclamation mark .. post a screenshot if there are any and then we can go from there :)

you have to install the drivers that came with your motherboard, or if you have a dell pc, that came with dell.. If you already have internet from wireless, go to dell.com and download the lan drivers from their website and all the other drivers you need.
