What I'm trying to make is a 'Downloads' folder on my XP that works the same as a 'Downloads' folder on the Mac or Vista. Basically I want a folder that the operating system would recognize as the location to put everything downloaded off of the internet. Is there any way to make that kind of folder? or a program that can do it?

If your using firefox go to options> Main and look for downloads. There will be an option called Save files to : And you pick the location.

When you download something it remembers the last directory used anyways :D

DAP and flashget have a default download location setting where everything will be saved to that default location but not sure about OS recognising the download folder

Also IDM.. Every software you use may give you an option of where to save all the downloaded files so its upto you.
