Well, i started making a web page in HTML (cuz that's the only thing i ever did, like 4 years ago). The thing is i want to get it online to see what kind of banners will my host put. Buuuuuuuut... I'm a total noob and i couldn't even get my page up. I got some hosting (free hosting that is) from t35.com, but i just don't know how to upload my page. It's basically just a lousy index.html. The site had an in-browser ftp thingie, but i couldn't figure it out. In Opera, the link to my page would just display the folders and files on the ftp, and in Internet Explorer it does the same thing, only when i click on index.html the page displays correctly, unlike Opera, where it shows the HTML code. <_<

What I'm asking is: can anyone explain to me how exactly do you publish your website on the internet? But, you know, dummy-explanations. Do I have to use FTP or are there other ways to do it too?

If you have actual FTP access I suggest you use that.

It's really easy to put something online. When get your FTP info, you can access your FTP server and should come in a directory. Most of the time it's the right one (or click public_html if it's already made, if it isn't then ignore what I say(you're already in there)).
Just upload a file named "index.html" or "index.php" or whatever, as long it's named "index". Everything you put in the index file, will show up when you go to your site.

To access your FTP server, you can simply download a FTP program such as FlashFXP.

If you need further help please say so :)

Wrong section dude, are you talking about a web host, (etc. freewebs, go daddy) or more like something you can advertise through?
