The country where I grew up and lived in for 8 years is a home for Muslims, Roman Catholics and all other Christians alike. Once ruled by the Illyrians, Greeks, Romans, Slavs, Croatians, Venetians, and Austro-Hungarians it is flooded with signs of empires that had spread their beliefs, ways of life, and beauty across it. Where ever you go you will see buildings, statues and other signs that date back to these empires. However one of the most known things about the country is a town called Medjugorje. Since 1981 the town has remained peaceful even though war and murder rained around it. People of many religions come from all around the world to "...convert, pray, confess, do penance and fast." She tells us that God has sent her to our world and, these years she is spending with us are a time of Grace granted by God. In her own words she tells us, "I have come to tell the world that God exists. He is the fullness of life, and to enjoy this fullness and peace, you must return to God". I'm going back to Bosnia 2 weeks from now and will hopefully stop by the town. My mother who had visited there once before said you are overtaken with joy and happiness. She said the moment she stepped into the town church she felt goosebumps flood her for an abnormal time. However, after many scientist examined the rosaries they find it to be not of gold yet an unknown alloy. Anyways, I can't wait to go to Bosnia and visit family I haven't seen in over 10 years. If people of all religions have found bonds and friendships in this town then it should be looked at as an example not a reason to down it.
