Hey, I had a question regarding my resolution.

My video card is 8800GTS and I was using 1280 x 1024 before @ 60Hz. But, then I decided it to change it to 1600 x 1200 but the problem is that, the text and everything else isn't sharp enough.

    Can anyone tell me why?

    Thanks

The higher the resolution.. the bigger the screen is, therefor everything else is smaller. the text, the images ect.

might as well be your monitor.

Yes, I realize that. But, it should be sharp, shouldn't it...?

You might be right; maybe my monitor doesn't support it.

Well that might be the only explanation, or that the resolution is faulty.

    Glad I could help.

Well what size is your monitor?

If your monitor is 1280x1024 (Think it's like 17 inch) then you use the same resolution on the gfx card as the screen is.

Otherwise things are stretched and such which makes them blurry.

sounds like you have a CRT monitor.

they don't run at native resolutions like LCDs do so there are points where it's not 100% focused.(though anything asside form non native resolutions on LCDs looks like crap, I honestly prefer CRTs to LCDs for GFX and gaming)

if you're obsessed about it, adjust the cans, should help.

    get better eyes.

that's basically what it comes down to.

unless it has some sort of odd resolution downscaling in it which is possible but I've never actually heard of a unit with it...

    Normal or Widescreen?

Normal is made for 1280x1024 resolution anything above or below it will reduce the quality, simple. So when you increased the resolution of your graphics card higher than what your monitor can handle then it blurs.

    If it's widescreen then it's 1440 x 900 resolution

I.e. My screen is 1680x1050 resolution or 22"

If I put the resolution of the graphics card to 1600x1200 or 1280x1024 then it will blur, because the screen is made for 1680x1050

    Understand?

well the blurring isn't as bad if it's down scaling though when it's upscaling it can be pretty poor.

I'll be blunt, I want to run 1920*1200 through my monitor and have it down scale(I hate edge aliasing in games) hasn't happened yet though. I haven't figured out how to and I've spent a while playing with drivers too.
