ok, i currently own a ps2 had it for ages now i want to upgrade.

ive been looking at the 360, because the price of the ps3 is still sky high (in the uk) they both look about the same so i am swaying more towards the 360. but the thing that lets the 360 down in the "ring of death" i know its got a 3 year warrenty, but what happens after the 3 years?

also the ps3 looks like in the long run the better buy, with GT5 coming out only on ps3, and with its blu ray disc player, and the fact that it lasts longer.

one console i havent mentioned yet is the wii, i havent even looked into this console yet, mainly because it sounds like the type of console thats only fun to play with other people.

please post your thoughts, your opinnions are valued trust me!! :D

o and i know things like this have been posted alot, but they are old :D just wana see how opinions are changing :D

so where should i put my money?

    Xbox 360 <3

I seriously can only name like two games on the PS3 that I even thought about wanting to play. Even then I'll just bum over and play it at a friends house instead of blowing all that money for three games. PS3 Should really focus on getting some exclusives and get their games straight before anything. I myself really see no need for a blu ray player so this wasn;t even a factor for me, though it may be different for you.

The Xbox 360 is grrreat <3 Three rings of death, I can't really say anything don't know. I've had mine since Christmas and take great care of it and have had no problems at all, really none. Same thing goes for my mother and my father. Both of their 360s have been fine, my dad having his since launch. Not saying that Xbox 360s don't fail for no reason since I guess they do. Microsoft supposedly has been trying to fix the problem in some of the newer systems they launch, heard something about them doing something to the Elite system but don't really remember what. A new 360 and a 3 year warranty should be more then enough and your system should be fine.

Lots of great games coming in the fall that are Xbox exclusive and really look good.

Wii, I really don't follow so can't really say anything. Though everyone I've talked to says the system is great, they played it a lot when they first got it but slowly after that they stopped playing. People seem to really either love or hate the controls, no in between in some games. Know a couple people who solely only play it when others come over but still enjoy it. I think I will get one for Brawl alone, look amazing.

I'd just say compare the games, the exclusives on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and see which you like better. Don't let the system failure scare you. Also if really need/want a blu ray player and is that a big decision in the buying of the system.

Personally I think the Xbox 360 is the best choice, just has it's exclusives in place. It's a lot more affordable. The online play is by far the best of the others. Though the Wii is a great buy too, and come around Christmas quarter I think it'll be getting more and should be looked into,

As it stands at the minute, get a 360.. in a year or so, you will want a ps3 though, when all the decent games finally start appearing. ;)

get the PS3 ur better off in the long run with it, trade in all your PS2 games/controllers and console and just pay for the rest.

do you really want a console to die on you like the 360 'ring of death', and then wait a while as they sort it out or send you a new one?

the wii looks to me like its more of a multiplayer console.

    go for the ps3

They've fixed the Rings Of Death with the new 360 Elite and its only another £40 extra and you get a 120gb hard drive + its black and smart :D
Even with the original 360's the ring of death didnt really bother me that much seeing as it was because of something that i did that it fried the inside. Only took about 13 days and then they sent me a brand new 1 which has worked great, also got two 1 month subscriptions to xbox live for my trouble :)

I say get a 360 just because for the next year or so IMO there isnt much diffrence in game between the 360 and the PS3. Also the online on the 360 is the best around, xbox live offers so much and even from the original xbox it has cause me no problems.

I say buy a 360, great fun and def worth the money.

    Games i'd reccomend getting are...

Oblivion, Lost Planet, The Darkness, Dead Rising, GR:AW 2, Splinter Cell : Double Agent, Tiger Woods 07, Dead Or Alive 4, Condemned: Criminal Origins, Hitman: Blood Money, GEAR OF WAR (Really good). Theres more but these are all the onces i've either owned or played and really enjoyed.

Games you should get when they are released....

Assasins Creed, Bio Shock, Moto GP 07, PGR 4, Fable 2, Brothers In Arms: Hell's, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men Highway, Resident Evil 5, Skate.

So yeh thats what i'd reccomend lol

lol I'm with this guy, + psn is free, xbox live is not.

Titles you should check out before even considering 360 are Killzone 2(the new trailer is ingame ;D), Uncharted: Drake's fortune, Unreal Tournament 3, Haze, Lair (the egm review was based on a preview copy lmao), White Knight Story, Heavy Rain, Ratchet and clank future: tools of destruction, Metal Gear Solid 4.
+ Multiplats like assasins creed, GTA4, The Darkness, Resident Evil 5.

    Just my 2 cents.

I had to make this decision a few weeks and i choice the 360 over the PS3.

Here is the way i look at it. The price isn't a matter. They both come out to be the same price in the end. Your not going to buy the core so its 400 for the prem system. Plus if you want to go online for XBL its 100 bucks for a wireless adapter and 50 bucks for 13 months of XBL. So thats around 550 for the 360 and a PS3 is 500 till it sells out and then its 600 again. So there close but the 360 wins in value. You have a 3 warranty, mine hasn't broken and works great. But i don't know if you have a wireless network and you may just do it hard line so thats 100 bucks you save.

But what do you do on a game console? You play games and the PS3 doesn't have those. The 360 has a lot.

    Gears of War
    Crackdown
    Forza Motorsport 2
Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2

    Halo 3
    Mass Effect
    Bioshock
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
    Assassin's Creed

GTA4 once its comes out thanks to the PS3 delay. :(

thanks guys!! i would rep you, but for some reason the rep arrows aint there?

i am going to go with the 360 tbh, it just looks the best and its the cheapest. one thing i dont get is, what is the hard drive for? is it really worth the extra £80?

Yeah, you'll need a console's harddrive, whether or not you get a 360 or PS3.

Btw, a lot of 360 owners were actually PS2 owners. ;)
