    Hi there

I've decided to get a new computer as soon as my next pay check comes.

I need somebody to build me a rig with everything included (keyboard, mouse, monitor(if it can fit in the budget), etc.)

I'm going to be using it for general web-surfing, light Photoshop work (nothing like 10000000x10000000) and light gaming.

    Budget is $800 Canadian

Use only Canadian sites please, no Newegg.

www.tigerdirect.ca preferred but will accept ncix.com

    Thanks a TONNE :)

I got the links for xlink's suggested stuff, can somebody verify that this is all compatible and will be what I need? I haven't added up all the prices yet but it looks like around 800. If you can find something for cheaper, feel free to post it.

Just totalled it up, Xelink's build comes to well over $800. Ohms I might go with yours unless someone can come up with something cheaper

Ohm's comes to about 850, but I think I may be able to tone that down by toning down the graphics card, because I don't really need that one as I'm not doing any hardcore gaming. I'm going to substitute it with a 7900GS (http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2458745&CatId=1560) which will bring the total with tax and shipping to $941 which is cool.

Haven't ordered it yet so you can still make changes to Ohm's build, but try to keep the price the same.

sorry I haven't been able to get on for a bit.

below is just a preliminary check. I found ncix to be one fo the cheaper canadian etailers though I'm sure that they are overpriced at times, consider the below to be preliminary.

DO NOT buy a $300 motherboard. Tigerdirect is doing some MAJOR price gouging there, almost double other sites.
    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...acture=Gigabyte

RAM you chose was a bit overpriced as well
    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...CZ%20Technology

    video card
    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...anufacture=eVGA

    HDD
    http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/sea...p?EdpNo=2273393

    CPU
    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...nufacture=Intel

case PSU dvd burner - ehh too tired will check into it in a bit when I have a chance. shouldn't be too much past 150

when I get a chance(either later tonight or sometime tomorrow afternoon) I'll dig up exact links and try to get some decent buys.

basically check ncix, canada computers and some other sites. I'm willing to bet that you can get exactly what I mentioned for around 800 CAD. Prices out to just over $600 USD, though I know stuff is more expensive on your side of the border.

last bit, will you be overclocking? do you need hardware based virtualization? if nto you can cut a bit on the CPU. heck you could probably cut a bit on the board now that I really start thinking about it. let me check some stuff tomorrow.

an alternative setup would be swapping a few parts to get
e4300(easily can be gotten to high clock speeds)
    cheap board
    7600GT/x1650XT(or GT)

Ok thanks I'll check NCIX out. I probably won't be overclocking because I'd probably end up blowing it up, and I don't really trust myself to be screwing around with voltages etc.

Homeboy, it's not that I don't like newegg, it's just that they don't ship to Canada. Thanks for that though, I'll check it out

you won't end up blowing anything up by overclocking and you don't really have to screw around with voltages

there's vcore and ram voltage and that's all you really need to know

i'd suggest for the RAM some cheap micron d9gmh ram
for the psu maybe a corsair hx520w psu
    if u cant get a 8800 a 7900gs or x1950pro
    gigabyte ds3 p35 mobo
    new c2d cpu's so E6550
antec-900 great case with some modding
    a seagate or western digital

    can get link later

Well I might overclock but not by much. If I were, would I need to buy additional cooling?

Could I buy a e6550 OEM? they are about $50 cheaper..

yes, you could. the OEM's don't coem with a heatsink though... BUT you could put the $50 saved towards a better heatsink.
