What are you going to be using it for? Gaming? Work?

I would go with this one:

    ACER 5051WLMI Laptop

    cryisis? lol

you would have to spend a bit more than that to play games on a laptop. If you could, get a desktop instead otherwise a laptop for everything else is good. Might want to check out the 2gb memory ones if your ganna be using vista.

lol well go with the ACER laptop if you want to try to play those games. You have a better chance then the intel graphics card since that on is horrible.

I dont really think either of those can play Crysis. But I don't know much about laptops but I've heard the Vaio is really good.

As graphically demanding as games like The Sims are, I think you'll be fine on the Sony.

    Don't get the Sony.
Vaio's are overpriced and their hardware is proprietary, meaning if you want to upgrade it later, you're stuck buying from Sony again. They'll rape you on the price. Go with the Acer.

what are you talking about? You can always add ANY kind of laptop ram same goes for hard drive, and other parts... Vaios arent exactly overpriced but its not cheap at the same time.. Acer is a good company, but a lot of people dont know about it, at least where I come from. So I'd go with the trusted name, which is sony. ( I DO trust acer as ive bought from them in the past, but im talking about a company in general )
