if you're overclocking, swap CPu and board. e6550+ p35 based DS3. same cost more or less. if you aren't OCing a really cheap board will do FYI. at stock, I find that the athlons tend to load programs somewhat more quickly but installing apps and actually running them is a bit slower.

e6550 is a better CPU around in most cases(lower power usage[litterally half as much], runs cooler).
heck looking at your budget, you could squeeze in a q6600(guaranteed G0 stepping)

if you plan on overclocking at all DEFINITELY go the c2d route. I can assure you that a 3.6Ghz c2d can kill a 3.2Ghz Ax2 in 99% of scenarios and at those speed both have around the same thermal output/temps

if you want to test it OLJ hop into the 3dmark aquamark and superpi threads...

PSU - you can get a better PSu for that price.
    I've sen Corsair HX520s go for $80-90

Also don't bother with the 640mb version of the GTS it's over 40% more expensive but in most cases only a negligible amount faster as of the latest driver updates(there are some exceptions though but...) only reason I went with the 640mb version is because when i was buying the 320 was $280 and the 640 was $310...

    Merged Post:

AS rock(a subdivision of ASUStek) makes lowend board.

you don't need water, a decent loop runs around $250-500(depending on what you cool) but a good airsetup might run around 1/3rd that cost and come within a few degrees. Also 99% of WC setups end up using fan to force air through the rads. Passive on WC is... well pointless when you can stick on a few low speed fans for literally double the thermal dissipation.

As for cards, there are literally dozens of GeForce and Radeon cards. the number of models exceeds 100. an 8800GTX is around 1000 times as powerful(in some cases) as a GeForce 2. Same on the ATi side.

also, there is no such thing as a 250GB raptor and 7500RPM harddrives aren't readily available. Also the raptor is a 10krpm drive.
