I would think that the reason most governments would want to keep information like this under wraps would be to: A. Limit the chance of a panic. How would u feel knowing a bunch of aliens just crashed into our planet, with a higher advanced technology than our own, and now our scientists are using them as scalpal practice... Who knows what the alien race would think about that... Etc... B. Proof of life beyond our little planet would absolutely disprove and crush the biggest of religions ethos and thousands of years of profit... Considering the biggest churchs have more money than the richest countries in the world and have influence throughtout the population of the world, this would be a big blow to their flocks, and thus their coffers. Human greed, and fear.
There has to be aliens wandering the galaxies.. I think Broken really said everything I was going to state. ;p I mean.. if there are aliens; there technoligy might be way more advanced.. and they probably see us as newbs to the universe or something like that, so don't even bother coming to our (in their eyes) newby little planet.
I don't think I believe the Roswell stuff. I do, however, believe it to be incredibly narrow-minded of anyone to believe life outside our solar system to be impossible. Why? Because: -There are roughly 200,000,000,000 (two hundred billion) stars in our galaxy. -It is estimated that there is up to 500,000,000,000 (five hundred billion) galaxies in the universe. -Assuming every galaxy is about the same size as our own, that's about 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (one hundred sextillion or one hundred billion billion) stars in the universe. -There are eight planets in our solar system (Pluto was recently decided a planetessimal, not a planet). -Assuming only 50% of all stars in the universe support solar systems, that's roughly 400,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (four hundred sextillion or four hundred billion billion) planets in the universe. -Assuming 75% of all stars in the universe support solar systems, that's roughly 600,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (six hundred sextillion or six hundred billion billion) planets in the universe. Why do I believe it to be narrow-minded to think we're the only planet out of up to 800,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 other planets to support life? Gee, I don't know. 0=)
I believe that aliens do exist because we can't be the only ones in the whole of the universe because it is soooo vast. I also believe that they are much more technologically advanced than us but because we are so small and insignificant they don't come and visit us
This is pretty much hypothetical and i'm not even claiming to believe it myself so dont quote me on it, but what if alien ships achieve such distances by not only flying but possibly being "shot"? Say perhaps they are given a destination and are more or less launched at it. Could explain the crashing. Once again, not claiming to believe it, just contributing to the conversation.
Of course aliens exsist. You could call a cloud an alien, or a piece of technology. The sterotypical image of an alien is a load of BS of course, but there must be other life forms out there.
I've believed in aliens for as long as can remember. I don't however believe in little green men with big heads and black eyes. Scientists all say things like "this planet doesn't have water so no aliens can survive there." Who's to say that they all have the same needs as us to live? They may not need to have water to survive.
Like nasuul said. I believe the main reason the government hides things like this is to keep panic from happening. I do believe there are some other creatures somehwere else. i mean, space is huge!!1 how can we be the only ones?
Aliens are real, like someone said, its impossible for this planet to be the ONLY one with inteligent life. Our earth is only so many years old, but the universe its self is billions upon tirllions of years old.
If anything ever has done it or we are ever able to do it, I think using wormholes would be the most feasible. As far as I know worm holes work like this, for example a balloon is a section of space, two sides get squeezed in so they are touching which makes the distance needed to travel very small turning say somthing thats this long: |,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,| into somthing like this: || But then again I'm no expert on wormholes
I watch shows about wormholes all the time on history/discovery channel. In theory time travel is possible. But like the guy above me said, if something were to go in one, it would be turned into a strand of string. So what ever went in there would have to be VERY resistante to incredible amounts of pressure
I didn't read this whole topic, just most of the first page... but someone said that they believed since there is so many galaxies etc that there has to be another life form... I find this highly unlikely as there are many factors about our planet that make it suitable for the lifestyle we have... All the way from temperature the the exact angle the earth is tilted on its imaginary axis... I really dont think there is aliens, but I could be wrong
