Just switched from paint shop pro 9 to photoshop 7. I have a big n00b question. How do I import custom brushes I download? Ive tried going to import and finding them but i think they're in the wrong format or something. Please let me know asap, thanks

Download in a .rar .zip right?
Extract to desktop first, then from dektop move them into the directory above. You might have to reboot your comp, but you will have to restart photoshop to have them put in.
I THINK some brushes are made for certain versions. Not positive.

That is the correct file name, Have you checked in photsho if they are there again? make sure you have selected your brush tool first.

okay, well what you can do is a sort of manual debug,

go into the brush folder, copy the brush set to another folder and then rename the brush set to "testing.abr" and then save, and then load photoshop.

if there is not set called "testing" then try the "load brushes" feature, and then find the set, and load it. if it doesn't work, then the brushes aren't compatible with that version of photoshop.

Here the simpliest way how to load them. Just open the photoshop
select brush tool click on arrow to get into masterdiameter menu. Then you should see next arror in MasterDiameter menu. Click on it and select load brushes. Then u locate them and when will u load them you will be available to see them at end of your brush list.
