in my opinion, 600 is a bit too much but i also think 400 is a bit to low if i was apple.. 500 seems like a solid price, because it does have functions of a cell phone, camara, music player, has maps of the world, and touch flow technology.. but then again, its only my opinion
it costs apple under $300a unit. $300 is the right price. that's about the same profit margin on most other phones.

Just wait a few months for microsofts phone... I still wouldn't mind having the iphone. It cost a little over $200 for the iPhone 4 gig to be made and about $40 more for the 8 gig.
Everything from Apple cost a lot....its nothing new...they still haven't released a mid-range computer, and no the Mac Mini is not a mid-range computer and neither is the iMac. The iPhone is no different. Im just waiting until the hackers manage to unlock it (they already got access to the insides of the iPhone..as in OS wise..)....the iPhone's price I can deal with it....its AT&T that I can't.... <_<
Why go for such an expensive phone anyway? People get too carried away these days. Just stop and ask yourself: "Why do I need a phone?" The answer is: "To make calls". A simple phone with a simple black and white screen (one you can pick up for $10) can fulfill the purpose of a phone just as well. If you want to listen to music, get an MP3 player. If you want to organise contacts, get a PDA. Why go for everything in one unit which is expensive and cant get the job done as well as individual units?
