I'll come right out and admit it: I love nature.. No, not in a romantic sexual way, that many people will immediately go to just to be funny and be like "Oh, get married" or something not even funny like that. But I like for the environment to be clean. I've heard so many people talking about "what we can do to help". I try to do my part with this. I don't drive a car everywhere. I walk or ride my bike to SEVERAL different places. I basically only don't walk/ride my bike if it is OVER 6 or so miles, or if I have absolutely NO idea where I am going. I do ot like littering AT ALL. I think it is very gross and irresponsible (for lack of a better word). Personally, I think that something should be done. And I do believe that Global Warming is at least some-what of an issue. What do you guys/girls think?
Walking is better because it emits nothing into the environment. Exccept for CO2 when you breathe, but that's enivetible. But I guess is everybody took the bus then there would be less cars and less objects emitting gasses. So, great! Good job, man.
Can you back that up? I'm not saying this to be rude. I'm just trying start a detailed conversation that has some points in it. Not just a vague opinnion, you know?
Nice. I'd never be able to be Vegan. A friend of mine is vegan and I'd never be able to go w/o some of the foods that vegans can't eat.
Global Warming is the biggest lie told to the American people since the "y2k disaster." Sure, there's no denying that the Earth is heating up. But how can we as humans be so arrogant as to look up at that big fiery ball in the sky and honestly believe that WE have something to do with the warming? We don't, people. NASA has documented that the more likely cause is the sun, because the sun pulsates in a way. That is, its' heat changes in intensity. "But," you say "What about greenhouse gases in the atmosphere?" Think about this: it's more likely that the warming of the planet is causing more greenhouse gases, not the other way around. This is because the ocean normally absorbs all these gases (the ocean is an amazing body, for those who ever study it. it absorbs nearly 70% of all the CO2 and other gases that are released on earth). However, due to the warming caused by the sun, the ocean is heating up and therefore losing its' ability to hold in the gases. This is a low-level physics problem, nothing too complicated. We've known for a while that as water heats up, it loses its' ability to hold stuff in. So why, you say, is everybody on this 'global warming' bandwagon if it doesn't exist? Easy. Because it sells. Because YOU the people buy it up. It all started with the movie "The Day After Tomorrow." Global Warming SELLS. EDIT: And don't misunderstand me; I'm not a 'hate the environment' kind of person. I do my part for the environment-- I drive a small car (BMW 3 series; gets like 30MPG around here, which is great), I don't litter (not because I think it kills animals, but because I think it's disgusting), hell, my computer's even environmentally friendly (Macbook ---). Apple Inc is considered the greenest computer company out there right now. The point is we can do our part to help our planet without acting like lunatics. Electric cars are an engineering disaster and we are meant to eat meat. You're called an omnivore as opposed to herbivore. >.>
Sure can there was a piece in the newspaper a while ago. --- Earth has been heating up and getting colder over centuries, yet after hm I don't know it anymore after 1970 it suddenly became the cause of human influence yet the other heats up and iceages was nature? --- Scientists can NOT prove that the heating up of the earth is actually the cause of more CO2 in the air, they only cna prove the percentage of CO2 has increased. --- The ice is smelting at the north pole! did you know it's growing on the other side? There are so many other facts that can prove enough, and these are just some I could remember. Morv, that post may have been bull----, but I know what i'm talking about. being a vegetarion doesn't changes ---- in the global warming, the point is the cars and factory's not the food dumb----
Oh, we are arrogant? You actually believe that all the chemicals, polution, gasses and deforestation have NO effect whatsoever on this planet? Earth has existed for 4.57 billion years and the last 200 years we have started polluting it like hell, you really think its not a manmade problem? Think again. Merged Post: 1. Don't be so childish, don't insult people. 2. Being a vegetarian does help. People are chopping down forests as we speak so cows can live on the fields. If everyone was a veggy than we didn't need all that soil. 3. The "there was a piece in the newspaper about.."-trick is quite useless.
1. stfu 2. Everyone a vegetarian? Keep dreaming. If there was global warming (which there 90% aint) your sweet vegetarians wouldn't have helped too much. The point are the cars and factory's 3. You think i'm lieing? Are you really an idiot? Go ahead and check it then if you're such a smartass.
I'm saying that the planet Earth was designed to compensate for gases released into the atmosphere. Like I said in my previous post, the oceans can absorb many of our pollutants. Not many people know this (because Al Gore doesn't like to tell people) but ozone, for example, replenishes itself over time. This big scary 'ozone' thing they always talk about is just an O3 molecule. As far as the chances that we're affecting this planet with our polluting, let's take a look at that question: I'm sure there are thousands of variables that go into 'deciding' what our climate is going to be like. But just to be fair (and mathematically correct) let's say there's 100. I'm sure there's more, but let's just entertain the thought. Let's also say that we can use our very best scientific instruments to predict each of those 100 variables to 99% accuracy. That would give us a pretty good model of our future climate, right? Not exactly. Mathematically, .99^100=.366 . That means that if we predict each of 100 variables to 99& accuracy, we've still only got a 37% chance that we're totally right. But there's no way we can predict 100 variables to 99% accuracy. So let's say we do really well and predict to 95% accuracy, and THEN make the charge that we're causing global warming. What are the chances we're spot on? .95^100=.005. Ouch. That's only a .5% chance that we're right. So why are we dumping all of our eggs into this 'global warming' basket? Well, see my previous post for that...
Humans wouldn't have survived if they didn't eat animals. And i would eat meat too, if the cow/pig/chicken lived a full, natural life and died a natural way. But I choose not to eat tortured, murdered animals. So, instead of trying to protect your meat-eating habits (i think you're probably only saying this, because deep down you know vegetarians/vegans are healthier) and glorify it by saying crap like that, just accept that us veggies choose not to eat murdered animals.
See, that's just it. I don't care if you don't eat meat, and I don't care how many animals you're telling yourself you're saving. Whatever gets you to sleep at night. Making the call not to eat meat is a lifestyle choice, just like being gay, buying big houses, or having sex with farm animals. It's all about your lifestyle choice. If you feel healthier because of it, good for you. I hope you have a long, healthy, prosperous life. All I'm saying is not to be one of the lunatics that forces his or her own lifestyle choice upon someone else. That's where lines are getting crossed. If you're a vegetarian and like to be that, say so. Power to you. But don't attack others for eating meat.
