Hello all, Wondering if i can run a Intel Core 2 Quad Extreme Edition QX6700 on my Abit Ab9 motherboard, Ive looked around and someplaces are only running E6700s. Is this possbile as. Also are they worth buying as im thinking of buying. Thanks in advanced
Is the quad core ones worth the money though, Im gonna wait to see how much they go down when they drop prices but if there still over $500 i will consider dual core or the q6600 which should be pretty cheap
to be honest the only thing which really uses quad at this point is supreme commander. other than that it's the future, and when I say the future I mean it will be obsolete by the time it's fully utilized.
Aren't prices suppose to drop this 3rd quarter? I've heard that the quad would go down in price as low as $266 US Dollars.
prices ALWAYS are dropping. but the big cut is basically happening now with the q6600gogin from 550 to 266, it's already down to 300 and the cut isn't supposed to happen until the 22nd
Are they worth it, I have the money and i know there furture proof, But will i see a massive perfomance different from a P4 3.0ghz?
you'de see a very tangible performance difference. and nothing is future proof. Don't spend twice as much money to make something future proof because in 1 year it will already be showing it's age. for the record, P4s suck.
Ah i cant complain about P4, I know it sucks but its held its weight over the few years ive had it, Just its finding it hard to cope with newer games like Shadowrun.
depends. higher tiered dual cores tend to overclock better(trust me in most games a 4Ghz c2d will outdo a 3.5Ghz c2Q) and if you're not using every core, going from dual to quad is pointless.
