Illegal Music Downloading

I am doing a research project and I decided to do mine on illegal music downloading. Please participate in the poll and post why you do, or don't download music.

 

because i dont want to buy a whole cd when i want two songs.

Of course its not ok, seince its illegal, but what they hell, why not.

 

Well, most artists dont care if you download there songs, so I really dont see the point of it being illegal. No one will ever be able to stop music downloading, its been done and it cant be un done, no matter what people try to do about it. Same thing is with movies, I for one have been in the warez for about 5+ years, now its grown much. mIRC every major warez group has its own server with many people. There is millions of people mIRC sharing mp3, movies, programs. I used to be part of a major release group, who actually releases the movies, and I can tell you cops can never track them down. They are 100% hidden to get in contact with them will never happen. So no one will ever be able to stop illegal downloading, it will be there. Just my 2 cents on this.

 

Naturally, the people who vote yes are either immoral or immature. They don't see what artists go through to get this stuff out. After all the royalties and cuts, an artist only gets about 15% of his total sales. He relies on concerts and tours to get his revenue. So how the hell are you helping him by ripping off his music?

 

I download legally, pay $1 for every song I download... however, I have to admit that I did download a few songs off BearShare that I couldn't get off of iTunes... ah well... won't hurt.

 

Bona I disagree with you artists can care less, most of them at least. 50 Cent a month before his album was out on bet he asked the audience if they heard any of his songs yet, he dosnt care and most of them dont.

 

It's nice to support the artists you like, though...

 

Yeah but I am saying that most artists dont care. When napster first came out I believe in 1999, lots of things were happening. I believe it was legal to download mp3s than unless the artist did not want his music to be downloaded. I think it was metalica who made a big scene about it. However most artists dont really care.

 

Yeah... but still, the risks of using it are high. It's just better to buy it! Your supporting the artists you like, there is no risk, no virus's, etc...

 

Blah, i pay to get see thier 100$ concerts... (korn,rammstien,slipknot) so i should get thier music for free

 

I highly doubt anyone got charged for downloading mp3s unless they were selling them. I dont use programs that you can download warez cause of the viruses, I got my hook ups for it. However, I highly doubt anyone got arrested for downloading mp3s since they got no way of finding out. Unless they are tracking your computer for something else..child porn, hacking etc...

 

Yeah, I agree.. the risk isn't that high... it's mainly just a scare. I don't mind paying that $1 though... but whatever.

 

I just got some info its legal to download mp3s in canada unless artists dosnt want it. Not sure if that is true or not

 

phat this will help you alot. basicly you can do it as much as you want. i did a report on this topic as well, they cant find the people downloading music like they use 2 because the way they found them befor was illegal they tapped peoples comps wich is invasion of privacy and they went 2 file companys like kazza and crap and asked for lists of downloaders, but that was illegal 2 the mp3 companys and such were violating user agreements and confidentuality and people started sueing companys for giving police the lists of downloaders and such.
