I am going to be going on a trip to Washington DC and I will be taking my new laptop with me. I thought this would be the right time to really get serious about making a blog, but I do not know where to start. I dont want to use social blogs like MySpace and Facebook and would prefer a devoted blogging system. If any of you are serious bloggers who can recommend me a blogger system thats easy to use and is very user-friendly, please share it.

Well it really depends on what you are looking for, and if you want to invest money into it or not.

For the free option, I would suggest something like livejournal. That seems to be one of the better blogging sites out there. However if you dont like it, you could look into blurty as well. Though personal preference, I would say livejournal.

However, if your looking to invest a little bit and dont mind buying some hosting and a domain. I would suggest you setup a wordpress blog and use that, that is by far the better option of them all.

If you want to use wordpress but can't afford the hosting you can get a free hosted blog at http://wordpress.com/ and another good free blogging service is https://www.blogger.com/ both sites are popular and reputable, so check them out, especially if your just starting out in the blogging world. Later on you can buy a domain and what not it you continue blogging and feel the need to. Hope that helps.

I use Wordpress and I'm really happy with it so far.
If you'd like me to host and install Wordpress for you, drop me a PM.
