Traffic patrols have long been known as roving tax collectors. But in Virginia, they really are collecting taxes. Starting July 1, an array of traffic offenses, from expired licenses to speeding, come with a "civil remedial fee" attached. That means a motorist convicted of reckless driving (75 mph in a 55 zone would qualify) faces not only a fine of up to $2,500 and a year in jail, but a non-negotiable $350-a-year tax for three years. The law forbids judges from waiving or reducing the fee. http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/Insur...dingTicket.aspx
About time. I don't see the need in going over 55 miles an hour anyway. Unless it's on an interstate where you pay to do that. There's no rush in where you're going. No matter how fast you go the place you're trying to get to will still be there and look the same no matter the time of arrival. Actually, you might not see the place if you're speeding to begin with. I honestly see almost a car accident every day.
Wow let people do there own stuff geez. I mean yea 75 miles per hour in a 55 is dangerous but 3k+$ Ticket? Thats a little to much like for real. I love how I can buy a car too and not be able to use it for what I want to do. I mean I like to think if I bought something it's mine... Thats what I hate about things the days. Flame me if you want but I stand by my opinion.
I'm guessing if I'm not against it you'd be smart enough to interpret that I am for it. Better than getting in a wreck and costing $10,000+ Grand with lawsuits or tens of thousands if someone dies.
Speeding is breaking the law, the fine is a bit much, but there should be no reason for speeding unless emergency
Hey, even if u dont speed, you still can get into a car accident. Now, 75 in a 55 is too much. But 3k is also too much
