ya so i just started using illustrators trial version of CS3 and i need to vector a picture of this guy for his CD cover. The problem is i dont have that much time to make a really hyper realistic vector.(I started using mesh points to vector the face but soon realized it would take much too long to do it that way. ) So what im wondering is if anyone knows a good way to vector an image that doesn't take an extreme amount of time to make but still looks good. Thanks ^_^
Select your object, go to object>live trace>make select color from the drop down menu, and mess with some settings, such as number of colors, and minimum area. those are the two main ones. once you're done, press make. if you want to edit your paths/points in the live trace, go to object>live paint>make. but you wont be able to edit your live trace after you live paint it. hope this helps :]
live trace sucks and is just a lame attempt at vectoring, which produce and ugly outcome imo your best bet is to learn vectoring, If I was you I would learn as much as I can with the trial of CS3 then when your time is up. Then search the internet for the trial of CS2 so you can have more time.
