I think in order to do sub-domains you have to host the domain and website through the same company...correct me if I am wrong.

just add the domain to a cpanel account
you can do everything from there
you got a web hosting account?
    or just invision free?

Once you add it to your hosting. You should be able to change folder extensions to your liking.

Example, once you have your domain set up to go to your host, then access your hosting account via ftp and make a folder called forum. Anything you put in that folder will be accessed when you go to http://yourdomain.com/forum

ya well you can park it on your domain
so you have your mainpage on yourdomain.com and you can set up a redirect
so someone types in www.yourdomain.com/forums and it will redirect them to where you want it redirect to (so if your using an IF forum it will redirect there)

well the easiest would be to add the domain to a cpanel account and forward it from there
